KeymasterNow that we’re all back at work, except Mark of course, and I’m out and about for the next couple of days up here…
In the runup to the weekend can we think of a way to get trade people that stumble on the site to ask for access? The problem seems to be that they find the site okay but then don’t realise that we don’t just let only old bugger into the trade areas despite the article on it that’s pretty clear on the front page.
Thoughts?

Perhaps elaborate on the opening statement on the home page a little more:-
Access to Trade Forums wrote:Access to the trade forums is restricted to trade members due to the sensitivity of some technical information and wiring diagrams etc., you will not be able to gain access without first requesting permission from site admin
Maybe something like….
If you are part of our trade then do please apply for ‘Trade access’ where you will be able to view and participate in our Trade Forums. Allowing you and your business into a wealth of Trade Only technical information, discussion, business opportunities and much more. You will first need to request permission…..blah, blah….!

We mentioned this before somewhere – long term we need to get it on the site as part of the “joining as a member” page.

The front page message is already there, just inactive and needs updating a bit.
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/admin.php?op=messages (Ken only)
So if we can re-word that a bit and make it active with a few links for email etc that should suffice ?

I’ve created a new block on the left under the main nav menu.
That caused me some serious grief as I was playing about with the position and managed to feck up the whole blocks position left and right 🙄
Sorted now I think 😉
Anyway, the block, it’s viewable by “all” at the moment, please feel free to comment on the content in the link it leads to and/or the block itself as it’s only an early thought for now 😉

KeymasterYes you have fecked it up! 🙄
I’ll sort it tomorrow, too late, too long a conversation with a little guy from Tenessee. 😕

Good work lads, that should be clearer and more obvious now to recruiting others in joining the trade forums.
What’s the betting though we still (sooner or later) get some dimbo “….who doesn’t know how to join?” :rotfl:

Cheers Martin, just an idea I had last night.
Had it not been for me putting the blocks in the wrong place 😳 which I haven’t completely put right yet (you should’ve seen it last night 8O) as I don’t know where Ken wants them and to be honest I can’t remember the exact order of the lower one’s as I don’t always scroll down that far.

KeymasterI’d just have put it in the info block TBH. 😉
But we’ll leave it there for a couple of weeks and see what happens, I may have call to use it anyhow.

Trade access?
This guy is a venerable comedian wanting just that, and reading his past posts I wonder what trade he is actually trying to access…and WHY????

He is probably a bloody good engineer, but I will bet he has a boy with him to do his invoices. 😆

You’re probably right John, he’s an admin nightmare at the moment though until he learns the ropes 😉
