    🙁

    Hi people,

I am definately going to buy a condenser tumble dryer (8kg+) and i am totally confused as i got it my favourites down to these machines:

    1. Hotpoint AQCF852BU
    2. LG RC9011A (but don’t want to pay the price here if others can do the same job?)
    3. HOOVER VHC391 (not sure of the quality here?)
    4. Whirlpool AWZ8579
    5. HOOVER-VHC691B-80

anybody got and suggestions? Reliability and good quality results is my main concern.

    please help 🙁

    Hi

Hotpoint Aqualtis machines are proving to be very reliable and to date we have not had any issues with the thirty or so we have sold.

The LG machine I don’t know anything about, their washing machines are good when they are running but the availability and speed of spares can sometimes be an issue.

Hoover in the old days were brilliant, since the takeover by Candy some years ago the quality has dropped but they are still a popular brand.

I like Whirlpool products they are well made for the price you are paying, the main issue is the high price of spares which in these times you need to be a little careful of.

I would go with the Hotpoint if it were me.

    HTH 🙂

    thanks Don,

I am worried about if things go wrong.

The LGRC9011A my wife loves (she wants to put a kingsize duvet inside) )and to be honest does this offer anything over the Hotpoint AQCF852BU/BI machine, it seems more pricey then the others but this direct drive business seems good on paper. Does this dry clothes quicker????

yer thanks i think i copied you 😀

    Re: Tumble dryer confusion

King size duvet’s just won’t get washed properly in a domestic washing machine let alone dried as they are just to large and bulky, Yes you will be able to physically get it to fit in but the results will be poor.

I wasn’t aware that the direct drive system was on tumble dryers only on the washers, it`s not mentioned on the LG site either.

Still the Hotpoint for me 😉

Exactly the same performance etc.. I stands for ice colour door and the U for titanium door.

AQCF952BI and BU the new 9kg versions are now available as well.

The 9kg was only released just over a month ago and with stocks of the 8kg still showing at Hotpoint I doubt whether it will change on the site for a while.

I ordered one for a customer who wanted the matching 9kg washer early September, which was one from the first batch.

Any Hotpoint authorised centre can order you one.

    Re: Tumble dryer confusion

Hotpoint are owned and built by the Indersit group, and are not known for there build quality or reliability if you check on this site.

I think the cheaper Bosh products are built in other country’s rather than Germany, and can be other makes with a Bosh badge on them but I could be mistaken about this.

Any feedback from people on the Bosch tumble dryer(s) in general?

    Re: Tumble dryer confusion

the thing with the 8kg aqualtis is that its mechanically basically the same as the standard 8kg condenser range tcm87*something i think.

same cruddy drum spindle, so reliability will always be usage dependant.

lg mechanical design is top notch for mileage, but electronic reliability will always be a question but at £450+ id expect it to be high…

bosch operate a 2-tier range of driers – gorenje slovak manufactured entry level stock and german manufactured higher spec stock. both are fine, and well made, but if your only after entry level kit, then gorenje are better value… and same warranty…

    Re: Tumble dryer confusion

So reliability wise the Hotpoint and Bosch models i quoted will not differ to much essentially?

Hoover VHC391 (9kg) is what my wife says is good as its simple and cheaper. Anybody got any views on this?

    Re: Tumble dryer confusion

based on like for like usage the hotpoint will die before the bosch, we have a hoover six that has lasted 5 years of heavy usage. pretty sure its about to die soon tho.

personally i like the whirlpool dryers, but again expensive spares

but tbh if it was me id get the cheaper timer operated large capacity condenser. hotpoint tcm580… £250… and bin it when it dies…
