Helo there’s no need for that here.
It’s the way that things are, people are misinformed and, in large part I suspect, misled as well by a lot of advertising. We have to recognise that, even if we do know better and try to explain.
The whole “2 year” and “6 year” warranty has been totally misrepresented by consumer groups and the media and if some retailers want to just accept the losses then, frankly, that’s their problem. I just can’t bring myself, even as a consumer, to be as unethical as this to claim for my own decision to buy something that I knew was likely to fail or was of inferior quality. It was my choice.
But then there’s also examples of retailers and some manufacturers that trade in that grey area between what is safe and what is legal. We have to recognise that as well.
The short of it is that if you research or at least get some information about any product beyond the simplicity of the ticket price and try to use a good retailer that knows the products then you’ll usually be okay. Local retailers are especially keen to ensure that you are happy as they live and die by their reputation within the community that they operate so, they care.
If you choose to ignore that and simply shop online or in a retail park for the lowest possible price that you can get then, you’re gonna get just that and all the baggage that goes with it. You’ll get lucky but, it’s like any form of gambling, you will eventually lose.
As I’ve said elsewhere many times, you can have the lowest possible price for any goods you like but ultimately, there’s always a price to pay to achieve that. You just have to decide if you can or cannot live with the consequences of that choice.
Just please, don’t come on here or anywhere else telling us how unjust it is that cheap stuff is of shoddy quality as you’ll get little, if any, sympathy.
K.
