But it’s nearer to Glasgow and Sheffield than Birmingham is, so some people will benefit. 😆

    Manchester is a NIGHTMARE!

Because of stupid football we can’t get a room rate and, because of the numbers attending, they all want to charge a day delegate rate. Torture! 🙁

But we’ll get a venue. Might have to wait till the football fixtures are published next week though as, if whatever mob it is that plays at Old Trafford is playing, then room rates over £100 per night are commonplace.

Why not look just outside Manchester itself, the motorway network round here is quite extensive and access to most of Greater Manchester ( I do hate that term for what is mainly Lancashire with a bit of Cheshire thrown in) is fairly easy.

The Village complexes have several venues in this area that are close to motorway access, but I would suspect that our budget is a little more conservative than P&G’s 😉

The problem is getting the balance right of…

    – Ease to get to
    – Room price for the atendees
    – Meeting room price
    – Meeting room size/facilities
    – Food price
    – Food availability (there’s a few people that like their grub ;))
    – General facilities
    – Tea/coffee availability/price
Bar facilities as we have been known for having the odd tipple

We have a couple, one was perfect but can’t give us the dates. 🙁

Goatboy (bless him) found a few and one looks to be really good, but not cheap for rooms at £103 a night! That may well come down considerably if there’s no match on at Old Trafford though. 😕

Outside Manchester we’ve looked, down as far as Stoke but not had a lot of joy, largely because I’m very consious of the room rate as the cost of the actual meeting facilities is generally okay. What I don’t want to do is pick a venue that puts it out anyone’s reach.
