ParticipantWe are due to get van and want to renew sign writing.
I was just wondering about designs, logo layout and pictures etc and if any one has got a good design ideas. As you have the vans for aleast 3years you want something that looks good and for it to be noticed by everyone. If you have a good design let me know.

You’ll be amazed at what can be done to the layout of a van these days. vehicle graphics, magnetic signs and vinyl banners. 😯
Pop into your local ‘Sign Makers’ ( see Yellow Pages) with a rough idea of your requirements. You could take along a memory stick filled with photo’s and drawings plus a side view of your vehicle. They can drag and drop those onto their PC screen and mess around with graphics like you wouldn’t believe. They have standard templates and a million different colours and typefaces to choose from that the mind boggles….. 😀
My local sign maker does artwork to a local trader’s articulated lorry and his ‘other’ vehicles. This local businessman runs a tyre & exhaust fitting business (called Wheelgame). In his spare time he runs dragsters at Santa Pod and his articulated lorry and dragsters reflect the awsome lengths signwriting/graphics can go…bl**dy amazing in fact!!!
You may not have a 28 tonne Volvo truck or a Camaro dragster but you catch my drift…..? 😉

There has been previous discussion on this topic. This is what works for me. look around at vehicles as you drive around. I saw one today. A riot of colours and shapes. Then in some almost illegible gothic script it said something like ” Blaablaa Assocciates, a member of the Smegma group” Not even a phone number. It goes to great lengths to tell us absolutely nothing. My preference?
1 Choose ONE colour that contrasts well with van colour
2 Choose the plainest simplest script you can find
3 Use a maximum of two letter sizes.
4 THe most important item is your phone number
5 pay particular attention to the rear of the vehicle. This is the bit that gets read the most.
6 Remember KISS. Keep It Simle, Stupid.
It works for me.January 30, 2008 at 12:42 pm #241488squadman

I use top quality magnetic signs, which are the shape and size of the panels on the side of the van, lasted 9 years now, changed the van three times. They look proffesional not like little signs. The beauty of this system is that when you trade in your van they don’t knock off an extra grand for respraying the van 😉
