Thanks for that Chay – feel a bit more confident about tackling the job now.

Just didnt want to waste loads of time struggling when there was no need. Oh for the days when manifactures made access and repairs obvious.

Thanks again for all the replies

Been back and done this one today so just thought I would update this.

Fan was a pig to get off and ended up spliting the end of fan where it fits onto motor to get off – did try with spade/sharp tug etc. but wouldn’t budge – word of warning tho straining to get the fan off looks like it bends the motor bracket – as the position of the motor and a foam spacer is all that keeps the front fan chamber cover on – make sure the bracket is bent far enough back to hold the cover in position.

Secondly when I took out the thermostat it was all covered in crud and noticed the corner where the stat fits in the filter housing there was a bit of crud build up to. This build up was not a lot and easy to miss but may have been enough to stop the stat from sensing the heat properly.

Next one I get of these where the m/c is tripping the TOC or overheating this will be the first thing I will check in future as it looks a poor design and prone to trapping crud just where the thermostat fits.

Belt didnt seem to much of a problem as the drum was held in place by the front bearing housing and rear vent chamber which kept the drum in a resonable position to get the back on. New belt might be a bit different as would probly be a lot tighter.

    Hope this helps anyone else.

    Thanks for all your replies

    Mick
