Just received an email from Nigeria…….enough said. I was found on the internet and they wanted to know if I would be gracious enough to supply new machines, spare parts and some training. The email came with a massive dose of computer clap, which the massed ranks of Norton and my man from the computer store have now defeated. So if you get an email in the next few days from anywhere you don’t know……. watch it. It has been spotted coming from Uzbeckistan or somewhere as well according to my man with his finger on the pulse of these things. 😈

Only because you are unique (no-one else gets the 3 star status on here, so treasure the knowledge).

I must explain though…..It was granted to you (John042) purely for your outstanding achievement dealing with those IN THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES :rotfl:

Why moderator Martin, thank you for your vote of confidence and for taking time to note my work for the under priviledged. As you well know, employment in this trade leads you to meet people from many planets. I am sure everyone using this site will be able to relate to the diplomatic tools, including but not limited to, zapping the nosey Labrador with the Megga, treading on the toes of the over inquisitive and above all, knowing when to say, stuff it, and go home

Many have asked the same question :con:

…….DEDICATION is the answer, but let that be our secret…OK? 🙂

Your analogies will serve you well by the way, except perhaps you may consider sparing the poor Labrador in favour of zapping a Cat as their electrical potential is lower!!!! :rotfl:

Re: Watch out for this one…

John042, you should use a programme such as Mailwasher. Using it, I can view all my e-mails without downloading them and delete/bounce any that I do not want before they get anywhere near my machine.

    Mailwasher

That link is to the genuine article, several imposters with inferior products, if you Google for it.

PS. If Norton was any good you should not have become infected in the first place. Perhaps thats why I don’t use it.

    Martin,

In my defence, I have never met a cat tall enough to stick its hooter in my groin at the most inappropriate moment, or indeed smash my multi meter with one swoosh of it’s tail.

    Iadom,

With reference to Norton, I have to cough up and say, it may well be my fault. Auto update and the on off button there fore …….Ahem… I’ll get me coat. Thanks for the link ( should have put that first, poor manners, apologies)

As always the sense of humour in these little posts has had me rolling around the office floor, just likr the little bogey Martin included in his last post. A pleasent aside from the daily grind.

You could say I am a little paranoid, but I have ZoneAlarm Pro firewall, Command antivirus from Authentium, Mailwasher Pro, Prevx Home (excellent free for home use security) Spywareblaster, Microsoft AntiSpyware, and Adaware installed. Needless to say, I have never had any kind of infection in the last 10 years.

Re: Watch out for this one…

One of those programmes I mentioned is actually a free version of a top rated security product. PrevX . It can seem a little intrusive to start with but it is one of the best programmes I have come across for detecting any activity that attempts to alter or modify your PC. you can suspend it whilst you are installing new bona fide software, or it will keep popping up to make sure you want to go ahead. Otherwise it can be set to auto update its deffiles and has a very small footprint. taking up very few resources. It stops anything that has sneaked past your AV from activating.
Well worth giving it a go.

I got one and abit words for you…

    McAfee!

They’re so good they turned down a PCworld sponsership, saying…

‘No thanks, we’ve got a reputation to think about.’ :rotl:

Mailwasher sounds good dor! I’m on Thunderbird at the mo. I want a email client, that I can hide in the system tray, rather than the taskbar?
