I usually tell them that under HSE regulations the area is deemed my work place and as such I’m responsible for the safety of all near and under that regulation I’m obliged to insist all non qualified peeps remain at a distance I fell safe enough otherwise if I’m injured due to distractions or persons involved it could mean my company will seek any losses from you the client who refused to move away.
They usually think I’m a t88t, but it usually results in them leaving.
If they have a dog or kid around it works well, although one prat who’s dog was showing his teeth and growling and decided it was funny that I wanted his dog moved, me being over 6 foot tall, I did tell him that if not and the dog attempts to bit me i will not hesitate in stabbing my screwdriver into the first piece of the animal it touches.

Or how about you get in the kitchen and as you either take the lid or back off the question comes ! Do you know whats wrong with it ?
Or the telephone call I had yesterday, Our Zanussi washer is not working properly, what do you think is wrong and how much will it cost !
It could be a number of things Madam but until I come a correctly diagnose the problem I cannot guess what the problem is.
So can you tell me why its not working and whats wrong with it !
Jesus is she stupid ! Madam if I could make such accurate forecasts do you not think I would be picking the lottery numbers this week !
If it was’nt for these customers I would’nt have half the trouble 🙂

I sense you have missed the point of this thread Lee with just a hint of emotional stress factor coming in here maybe?:?

Yeah but do you charge extra for stabbing a dog? Or is there any entertainment value you could put into it?

Slightly off topic, went to call last week, 3 bed townhouse, new build, woman
appears at glass window in front door- shouts ‘can you go around the back’, so i make my way down 40 foot path, around corner into back garden, through conservatory, through dining room where hubbys playing with baby, into Kitchen. Only thing is the Kitchen ends up being next to the front bleedin’ door. Wasting my time or what. I’ll charge extra next time, certain customers you never forget do you.

how about a good old fashioned distraction such as can you go and fetch me some large towels so i can try it or can you go and turn your water off then get them to keep turning it off and on while you work in peace
or even send them outside so they can see if it is draining out properly
as for charges hout about a fiver every time a customer points to the door seal restraint band and says..”you have missed a bit”
in fact forget the cash i would rather just drop my toolbox on their overcrowding feetSeptember 15, 2010 at 4:20 pm #329963funkyboogy

thats a cracker …
i was very chuffed one time as i had managed to put a new drum back plate in very quicky …
when i opened the door the was a very big gap between door seal and drum – say roughly about 2 inch .. ( cant remember what wm it was but it was one you could put a shorter drum in)
anyway i advised customer it a new anti clothes rip drum ?..
dont know how you got away with no drum …

My customers son was at home to let me in and pay me when the job was done. He showed me to the machine then promptly sat down in the living room watching More4 on the plasma. I glanced across to see him idly picking his nose, routing around for a big one, then inspecting his catch! 🙁 ….Yuck!!! 😥
Averting my eyes I completed the repair, made out the invoice to include an ‘extra charge’* for what I predicted was coming next, then approached him for payment. He said “my mum’s left her credit card and I gotta put in the PIN number”.…………..He promptly keyed in the 4 digit PIN with his lucky, mucky digit! 😯
*£15……well I did have to spray the keyboard after with antibacterial and such. 😈

Treat one of my customers to a packet of “Polo’s'”
Poor bugger isn’t the sharpest arrows in the quiver (Care in the comunity )” and stands over me every time I work for him, he has the remains of his last meal on his chin and breath to match.
I am sure he just calls me for the free polos :rolls: -
