Participantgot to agree with you there electrofix, my wire coathanger has bailed me out so many times…I once had my wire coathanger removed from me, when I worked for Hotpoint when we were trying to achieve BS57540 and engineers were not allowed to have any kind of modified tools in thier arsenal…can you believe it..I replaced it as soon as I got home..its just to handy..I’m gonna patent it.

I used to call my my coathanger, my ‘knicker extractor’ when I was at Hotpoint it was ideal for fishing things out of the old 1400 twin tub spin outer drum.

A customer gave me a bicycle spoke the other day, that has similar applications.

I know there are some that don’t believe in them, but one of the best tools I’ve purchased is a rechargeable screwdriver.
I tried one of these small cheap drivers and it was next to useless. You’d have to turn it by hand to loosen the screw and it was quicker using a conventional screwdriver in the end.
Then I tried a larger more powerful driver. It was like using a hammer to crack a nut. Cumbersome, heavy and wouldn’t fit in the tolbox.
Along came the ‘DeWalt inline driver’ Small enough for the toolbox (will straighten) powerful enough for most tasks. The battery can last up to a week in normal use. You can use all manor of extensions and adapters fitting hex bits, Torx, and 1/4″ drive Sockets.
It’s ‘the puppys bits’

Thanks for the post earlier in this forum about the large syringe. Never thought of using one in the past, now a useful part of my kit.

You obviously don’t do Zanussi tub/bearings changes then 😆

This driver will remove and refit a set of Zanussi tub bolts on one charge (just). You might have to start some of the bolts by hand if very tight.

It looks powerful enough though I agree. I might check one out at our local wholesaler who has a further 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off promotion going at the moment…Thanks!

I find a long pair of surgical forceps useful. Got mine in an angling shop for £4. They use them for getting hooks out. I use them for getting bra wires, socks, coins etc. out.
Cable ties can also be used as tools in many situations and are the most useful things for all sorts of fixing jobs. For example, fixing together broken plastic pieces, sometimes by the judicious drilling of a hole here or there to pass the cable tie through.

Easymove furniture sliders!….made out of strong plastic with foam rubber pads…perfect for those soft vinyl floor coverings that easily tear when you move the machine. Slip these under each foot (set of 4 in pack) and slide away!!!

Available from http://www.lakeland.co.uk (type in Furniture Gliders in search field) 😉

Those AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi machines are such a pain to take to bits in order just to retrieve a nail or screw that has got caught on the front lip of the inner drum aren’t they? 👿
Well necessity is the motor of invention so they say, I’ve come up with a simple solution using just a small powerful magnet and a short length of pressure tubing. 8)
Doesn’t work in all instances. Like when a woodscrew has embedded itself into the plastic tub, but like colonic irrigation, it’s worth a poke down there first? And can save over 2 hours taking the machine apart? 😉
