Wow, didn’t think I’d be back this quick.
Went to one tonight (well half past five). Old guy, house resembled one of those TV life of grime programs. But I thought, well I’m here now so crack on…
Was led to an AEG that must have been 25 years old if not a day, full of murky water. The old guy said it wouldn’t drain.
It wasn’t until I’d had a go at checking the waste pipe and then trying to empty the filter into a shallow bowl that he told me “he’d had a bad stomach for the last week and had covered his clothes in diarreah then put them in the machine, would that be the problem?”
The combination of the awful mess, the stink, my hands being covered in fecal water just seemed to take the joy out of the job for me.. I must have washed my hands ten times since. 🙁November 21, 2013 at 12:41 am #404803kwatt

The only one I ever bailed from was a house in Maryhill in Glasgow, aka Scarymill.
A Servis, under warranty.
All the houses round about it had metal windows, you’d think it’d be a clue but, being much younger an a lot more stupid, I went in to the “home”.
The kitchen floor littered with druggie needles and syringes just did for me. I’m sorry, but no amount of money is worth that or the danger of getting AIDS from a damned cheapo machine.
I was outta there before my van got nicked and refused to go back.
Thing is, they didn’t have a clue what day or year it was. The worst ones are those that are aware and think it’s okay to ask someone to swim through their squalor.
There’s been more I almost walked from and was probably a hair’s breadth away from doing so but managed to compose myself, if only just.
Doesn’t matter though, city centres, burbs, rural… mucky b*****rs are everywhere.
It’s always the machine that’s at fault though, never the crap you have to pull out it or clear from it. :rolls:
The good thing is, I come home and think the place is a bit untidy then look back and think, you know what, it’s a palace by comparison to many and really not that bad at all. Makes you a bit more appreciative.

I’ve been to several pikey sites in the UK and never really had any issues.
My first encounter in Spain was in Seville.
A new cooker was picked up from a store and dented. The stores wont deliver to the estate for obvious reasons. The problem being it was there fault, the store decided they didn’t want the issue and passed it to service.
The local engineer felt better having the van parked away from the estate. I was given a knive and a hammer to carry and told if it kicks off just run, i’m no runner which l guess is why l had the tools.
Again no issues, the women actually really friendly, due to fear they got everything they wanted.
A couple of months later a few of the men got arrested for putting a bullet in the back of the head of someone l guess had issues with them and some drugs.

And a “PIKEY” is what, exactly? I am assuming you may be referring to the travelling community.

“Travelling Community” what a simplistic term for a bunch of irresponsible people that cause filth and disruption wherever they choose to park their caravans.

In your opinion, which you are absolutely entitled to and I would fight to defend your right to hold that opinion. What I was trying to highlight is that some words are very offensive to many people. Whatever their characteristic traits, would you equally use the terms “nigger”, “paki”, “spic”, “wog” “chinky” Et.c. Et.c. amongst people you did not know?

Dont assume anything, if your ever unsure of the obvious google is your friend.
I have called people paki, niggers no, black ba888rds yes sometimes, pikeys, foreigners.
I have even called people with low iq’s idiots, thick, retarded, dick heads, knobs.
Insults are never meant to be pleasing and anybody who has never insulted a person is lying.
But words also require context, nigger is used without malice throughout the world. Pikey is a slang term and does not always mean an insult any more than refering people as the “travelling community”. Your still labelling people.Look that man is fat, is saying that an insult, no, but somebody in this wonderfully tolerant world is likely to start getting all defensive and start an arguement that never required it. You do find in a room full of grown adults there is likely to be one that is a knob.

What a shame the subject matter has to be debased in this way. In an attempt to put it back on topic here’s another instance I encountered years ago now.
A guy rings to say his AEG washer dryer comes up with E20 error code. He shares a posh apartment about 20 miles away with 2 other blokes and someone would be there to let me in and would settle up on completion. Integrated machine, a sod to get out, removed and cleaned the condenser matrix. During this time one guy says he’s off to work so I ask if the other one was gonna pay. He said no, neither of them planned to pay me as it wasn’t their machine and that only the owner would pay by posting a cheque.
That wasn’t the deal and either one of them could have paid me. They couldn’t contact the owner as he had (apparently) gone on a business trip to France. I saw red, left the machine in bits, picked up my tools and left…!

Went to a dishwasher last week. The snooty lad that answered the door took great pleasure in tell me that his girlfriend has a masters in electrical engineering and that she was certain it was the ” motherboard”. 30 seconds later I asked him if her degree covered checking plugs where switched on. Smiled and left. £40 bill to the letting agent that they will have to pay 🙂

Went to one years ago when i worked for home care, bit of a ruff area but not all bad.Walking up to the front door all looked well.
Rung the door bell and then i heard the dogs barking, don;t mind dogs so no problem there. Then the door opens and the smell of dog shit and piss would have knocked you on your back!
The lady of the house said come in and excuse the news papers from the front door all the way along the hall and into the kitchen, all of which were covered in the afore mentioned waste.
I got as far as the washing machine but was not prepared to knell down on the floor let alone pull it out, but the smell was turning my guts so i made my excuse to return to the van and called the office, they agreed so i left. -
