    Re: What would you do?

But I ask you, based on that example, what would you do?

I have in the past managed to obtain a contact number of a relative who you can explain the problem to. I would tell them the time and effort taken and charge accordingly.

If he then phones again you can call the relative first.

If no relatives or neighbours then I suppose theres not much else other than call Age Concern.

A bit involved I know and I have never had to go there.

i have had several situations with older customers with very short memory ie. wanting to pay twice or more, asking for demo on t/tub after i just explained it, then tel. shop to complain that i just dumped the machine and left etc.etc.

    Re: What would you do?

When the old duffers are on a warden controlled site there’s no problem with getting them assistance. Even sometimes a neighbour more conversant can help out, it’s true. A few years back I quizzed an elderly lady into giving me the phone number of her two daughters (one nearby the other in Devon) The old gal cursed and slagged off her closest daughter explaining the one in Devon was the one to speak to she said. When I phoned the local daughter see told me she calls to see her mum 3 times a week and her sister in Devon had never seen her mother in 30 years!

The old boy I went to this week has no such relatives in this country and the neighbourhood is full of lettings and students that never speak to anyone let alone an elderly neighbour whose loosing his marbles poor soul. I guess Age Concern is who I should contact should he call again….?

Thanks for the tips guys. 🙂
