    What would you do here ?

    I would forget it and move on.(difficult i know).

    I know you have lost out but if you charge i’m sure you will never see the money or, if by chance they do pay up, you will have to give more of your blood in the future.

    Yup, I’d walk. I’d also mark the customer as “NFS”.

    suggest you send them a bill which you feel would be fair reward for your time/efforts. this will put the customer in the picture and give you a bit of leverage if a) bosch visit and reapair you won’t get a call advising you of this, b) if bosch turn the job down you can return, sort w/d out and charge accordingly taking into account your bill for prevoius visits.
