I can understand that you may struggle with the P&G tie-up and that’s fine, all will become clear over the next few weeks
Pesonally I don’t see any problem with the P&G sponsorship. UKW Ltd have a sponsor that is related to the trade and has no adverse history with any of our members that I know of. If the sponsor turned out to be D&G, CDSL, GBDAR or god forbid Whirlpool then it might be a different matter but they could be sponsored by the taliban and it would be bugger all to do with us.

Now I for one would love to meet with all interested parties perhaps on Sept 23rd and talk about this in more detail rather than someone trying to sell me a brand of soap powder. As soap powder will always be in demand long after we all have gone out of business
Correct me if I am wrong here, if the full P&G sponsorship deal is announced at Sibson it will not be for the UKW members to debate whether it will go ahead or not. This deal is between UKW Ltd and P&G. The members get the free training etc. and if someone is not happy with what is on offer then tough, It is free after all.
What we need to realise in here is that UKW Ltd, need funds to function. How they get the funds is quite frankly none of our business. If this deal was a tie up between DASA and P&G I could see the point in having a serious debate as DASA is owned by the members. What we have to do here is understand the difference between UKW Ltd and the UKW website. UKW ltd and how it operates should not be up for debate and I am surprised at the laid back response from the directors so far, I think Dave was being polite when he said

Thanks John.
The point is that its’ money that, were it not for the existance of UKW, we would simply have no hope of gettign to further fund what we’re doing. You all have to remember that this has taken almost full time effort for a year or more to do, it didn’t just happen by magic. You also have to see, as John rightly points out, that it does not bias UKW in any way towards a manufacturer, insurer or WP.
It llows us to invest in technologies, the site, training, people to train and a whole host of other things that, in the end, will benefit the industry as a whole. The independent industry that is, i.e., us!
If anyone’s not happy with that result then really, what can I say?
The deal has been done and contracts exchanged. Again, as you rightly point out, DASA does not have the liberty to do that without approval from Council and members without breaking its own consitution, again. Which is why this isn’t an association as, quite frankly, it would stifle and kill a lot of things that can just get done without so much as a second thought. That’s how most of us run our businesses and why I think many of us find the likes of DASA so goddamn frustrating at times.
But I digress…
UKW Ltd serves the same goals really as UKW the site as they are one and the same really, if you want to seperate them but I don’t, in that the goals are to better the trade for us. That hasn’t changed at all and the original rough plan I had from two years ago is still intact and very much on track. No-one knows the full extent of what’s planned as a lot of it’s in my head and, I react to what’s going on and use it to best advantage.
If you study my recent posts you’ll see a strategy to them, it’s not just pot shots in the dark, there is method in what I write and an end-goal as well. Although I tend to relax in here.
We are laid back, but only to a point. That point comes for me where anyone dares to have a go at the independents or UKW, or when the release of commercially sensitive information could damage the same and, other than some things there, we’re pretty open about what we’re up to really.
With the P&G thing in particular, were I to tell you all about it a lot of the impact of the stuff that the trainers will show you at Sibson will be totally lost. I don’t want to spoil all our fun, God knows we worked hard enough to get it to that point.
