I want to compile a list of the worst washing machines to buy in the UK. That is, which ones should people avoid because they will be very hard to get anyone to fix it, or because parts are so hard to get, or so expensive.

My first on the list is Servis because their parts are ludicrously priced compared to the purchasing costs of the new machine. Can members of the trade please expand this list?

That’s gonna be one mighty long list of s**t you’ll have there Andy. 😉

Actually there is a Servis machine that’s really okay (hears gasps of surprise) apart from any one that is currently in a skip! 😆 There is one that’s just a re-badged Asko since old Antonio bought them up and re-badged a washer, dryer and a dishwasher and they’re okay, don’t have the model numbers though as I’ve yet to see a broken one. AFAIK they were released earlier this year and I’ve only seen them in Makro so far at double the price of the normal rubbish, which tells a tale in itself.

I thought that Antonio Merloni bought Asko to find out how to make them better, apparently not. 😕

Other than those few models Servis to me is landfill waiting on the skip truck and the performance is crap too of the vast majority of the range.

Not only that but Merloni, well Servis UK I mean have completely stuffed the ASKO brand. They now do “ONE” model of washing machine, have discontinued all white versions (stainless only) and sell thru TESCO direct at £100 cheaper than I can do. The sales staff at Servis dont give a toss about it and have nil product knowledge, the deliveries are always late and without exception every one delivered will have at least damaged side panels and the service network is now ONE man, John Hinkinson, who admittedly does a good job, but one man covering the whole country! All in all, I wouldnt be surprised if they dropped the brand altogether in the UK (yes I offerred to take it of their hands) and they cannot recognise a quality product if it was dropped on their heads from a great height.

Give Moben Kitchens a ring and get them to install a “Built-in ‘TECNIK’ Washing Machine” in your lovely “Designer Kitchen”… the epitome of the manufacturers art as it stands today.

We love rubbish in this country and with Tecnik we have got it ❗

    Unless someone knows better ❓

Just had a thought…..that throughout this site I do not see mention of DYSON WASHING MACHINES ❗

Has James Dyson created the ultimate washing machine ❓

Is it THE machine to stick in ones kitchen I wonder ❓

I am smitten with yet more flashes of inspiration to save our industry 😉

“Let me see now!”……If I can arrange a meeting with James Dyson, John Bloom and Jeremy Clarkson the future is ours for the taking. ❗

Trust me I have cracked it 💡 ……..hold your breath a little while longer…. ❗

Good god, there is a name from the past, John Bloom you are showing your age Martin.

I remember his adverts in the early 60’s twin tub W/Machine for 19 guineas plus a free fur coat. He had the product made for him by Tallent engineering, the old Rolls Rapide and Roll Concorde. Wasn’t a bad machine actually.

Tallent carried it on with the Electra Badge and made a model for Colston. There was another character, (Mr Colston) used to work for Hoover.

Why Jeremy Clarkson in this though?

James Dyson invents, John Bloom great marketing skills and Jeremy Clarkson to slag of the competition.

You know I admire what James Dyson accomplished and the fact that he stuck two fingers up at the establishment as it were, but I still don’t understand the Brit’s predilection for actually seeing the dirt extracted from their carpets spinning about. Nor do I understand how that filters are any cheaper than bags or the total ownership cost of a Dyson being lower than anything else.

As for the washer, do the math. Take two drums, two motors and an electronic control system and you have a recipe for disaster in my experience! Shoving that lot together is just asking for trouble if you ask me and a couple of my customers that actually bought the things. 😉

Look at any of the machines that last or have lasted in the past 20-30 years, every one of them has or is pretty mechanically simple but chunky, unless someone knows something I don’t. Now with Servis etc they’ve even managed to prove that if you make a simple one but build it from crap then it doesn’t last either.

Just an opinion of course. 😉

Why do they have 2 motors? And what happens if one fails?

I have the top of the range CR01 memory and up to now (5 months) it’s fantastic. The wife loves it as it only takes 25 mins to do a 40 degree wash and with 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more washing in than normal too

Well that’s 1 of the 2, where’s the other one I wonder, and does that still work ❓
