ParticipantHi I just joined here and hoping to get some advice,my current hotpoint wm53 bearings went after 11 years,,so im on the look out for a machine cheap.
I was looking at another hotpoint, but then im reading they are now rubbish,so are indiset and beko.so i ruled them out
Bosch seemed good but they are over budget, but even then im reading some are not german made, and so are agian unreliable.
I’ve been shrugged of a candy machine, even though there is a good deal in comet for one at present, and again told they are poor.
So next i thought zanussi, there is a cheap machine in my local apllience shop,,but again now im hearing they are not to good on the cheaper models.
So if i link to the machines i was looking at can anyone shed any light for me please.
comet CANDY GODF800-80 good spin, large drum slim width.http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Washing-Machines/buy-CANDY-GODF800-80-Washing-Machine/665576
Zanussi ZWG1120M 6KG 1200,,has countdown which i like
http://www.electricshop.com/invt/zwg112 … 798&lot=wgZanussi 6kg 1200,seems basic,no remaining time or spin adjustment but 2 yrs gaurantee
http://www.electricshop.com/invt/zwg112 … 798&lot=wgsamsung,bit over budget but has the countdown and spin changing http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk/produ … 16404.aspx
As you can see its driving me mad, everytime i see a machine i like i read reviews and people say things like they are no good anymore, made to last only a year.
thanks for any help, appreciate it a lot

Hi
Simple’s
Get new bearing and shaft fitted to your current washing machine..Tt’ll last longer than any of the current £250 range of junk. 😆

Hi bryan
I have tried to do that, but after taking it apart the outer drum has a crack in the bottom with a creves which looks like the size of a 5p,and the front bearing has tried my pateince long enough 😀 the race is basicaly siezed/rusted in solid.
also needs a front rubber seal which has holes in it and 2 bottom shocks,,i cant even find the outer drum to buy, well only one place at £117.not inc delivery.
So i had tried my best to sort it out,out of the above though which would you say (i know they are all cheap) or is best to buy a cheap beko and stick 3 years on it,prob be around the £260 mark

Your old Hotpoint was more than likely over £250 11 years ago, how can you expect to pay the same 11 years later and get anything decent?
At £400 to £500 you are just coming into ‘decent’ but not good.
You might be better off seeking out a local independent retailer who sells Amica or Gorenje machines. As good as or better than any of the ones you have listed and you will be sure of good after sales service as well, they are not bad machines for the price.

Hi
If it’s a new machine then I would go for either a Gorenje or a Amica..You should receive better service.

Does the “all bad reviews” not tell you something? 😉
In all honesty, for under £300 its mission impossible to get something “decent” that will last. Usually in this price range they’re built for up to about 1500 cycles at most, some as low as 600 cycles.
Between £300 and £600 you have a chance but, it still won’t be as good or last as long as the previous one in all likelihood. You’re into 1500-2500 cycle territory here if you buy smart.
Over £600 you’re into some of the more decent stuff and something more akin to what you had. Then you’re within reach of 5000 cycle plus machines.
The point is, you should also consider very carefully what you need and how much use the machine will get. Or, you’ll be back here in a year or so asking again. 😉
Do be aware though that you can buy, as examples, a Panasonic which is an over-priced Vestel built machine made in Turkey. Or, an AEG which might sport a German name but has Italian produced Zanussi/Electrolux guts in it.
Trouble is, most people wouldn’t be able to tell as the fascias change.

ok Thanks guys,,they wasnt really reviews just going from forum to forum, and some say they are no good, and others say they have had one 2 years no problems etc etc,.its up and down and very conflicting,,but some use them every day.
I didnt think it would be so difficult to pick a machine these days 😀 😀
I totaly understand though they are not built like they used to be,and most have complex PCB in them that can go wrong, along with bearings not lasting and sealed drums making them wrote of if the bearings go.
A washing machine guy who come out to mine once said, buy the cheapest machine and replace it when it breaks in 1-2 years,,as I live alone i only put on 2 washes a week maybe 3 but only every fortnight,my work overalls are cleaned at work.
nothing lasts nowadays,as to much is built abroad, but i must admit i did always thing bosch and zanussi was a good reliable brandNovember 5, 2011 at 7:08 pm #363064iadom

The Bosch machine you linked to would be a good buy given your washing requirements. 8)
PS. The washer guy you were speaking to was talking Horlicks, unless of course he was also into selling cheap machines. :rolls:
