Good stuff. Thanks Dave. You’ve been an absolute star. Will report back once I get the motor off

Hi Dave, assuming it is the diverter valve, and it can’t be repaired, where’s the best place to get a replacement motor, or complete assembly?

    Hi Dave

Finally got the machine out and turned it on its side to see the diverter valve which I then took off. It looks like there’s been water in that area as there’s some staining that’s gone on.

I dismantled the valve, and there’s more staining inside the valve.

The seal looks absolutely rotten, and I managed to get the remains of it out which you can see from the photos.

All I can assume is that the shaft had seized in the seal.

I’ve been in touch with the the shop at UK white goods and they tell me that the seal is no longer available as a separate item without the whole valve.

Hey ho, I’ll have to buy a whole new valve and seal.

    Any other thoughts?

    Graham

Yep, have already ordered it, and it’s coming in from France. Hopefully it’ll get my wife off my back!

Morning all. Just a final update on this. The new diverter valve arrived, which I fitted.

Once I’d removed the old one, saw the state of the seal, and that there’d been some water ingress into the gears, I felt pretty sure this was the cause of my problems – the source of the ticking noise and the poor cleaning results. I think the shaft from the valve shaft had siezed on the seal, causing gears to jump and thus the ticking noise.

It’s an integrated appliance, so after a couple of test washes to check the repair and for leaks last night, I’ll refit the machine today.

    Many thanks.
