ParticipantWe have a Whirlpool AWO/D 049 washing machine. It is integrated but apart from that it is just a washing machine to me :rolls: :rolls:
It stopped mid cycle a while ago, and because it is at our house abroad, I thought, after close inspection, that it must be a board failure. It was totally dead!
So I ordered and eventually got a new control board from 4ourhouse at a cost of £175!!!
So I have now fitted this. Guess what, doesnt work ❗ ❗
But we do have lights.
As soon as you turn the dial to any position it sounds like there is a pump working, but nothing happens. No water gets in. And that is without pressing start!
The service light is on and also the lights for rinse and spin / drain, and the start light is flashing.
We will have invested about £800 in this now, with purchase, shipping and now the new module.
Whirlpool as might be expected are even worse than I would have expected.
Is there some sort of reset you have to do, or are the flashing lights an error code?
Come on guys I cannot afford to scrap the damn thing. It will only have done a dozen washes 😥 😥 😥

Sounds very much like that control PCB is NOT pre-programmed…….oh dear! 🙁
Paddle, creek, up and all that……
What is the full part number of the PCB you bought anyway?

WPL481221470499 described as Module – programmed. They obviously had all the numbers from the Machine, and I had to wait ages for it. I think it came from Italy. I did query the part number as it was different to the old one. They assured me it was the correct one for the machine!

Yes it appears to be the correct part though it your diagnosis as to the fault is likely to be questionable? So, time to roll up the sleeves and get down and dirty on this armed with a full set of tools and a proper test meter. Check out : the motor, heater, pump, wiring, inlet valves, door interlock, pressure system………let us know how you get on? Have fun! 😀

Aaaaah, then time perhaps for a rethink……hmmmm?…..it’s locate “abroad” you say? They don’t do manuals these days it’s all on computer accessible only to local dealerships. And that may be your only option, to call out a local agent, I reckon.

We are in Barbados, and the local Whirlpool guys only do American machines I am afraid! Most of those are steam driven, a few electric now!!!!!

Offer a free weeks accommodation for a UK Whirlpool engineer and his family to come over and stay and fix it for you. 💡 (must bring toolbox)

Right enough of this silliness! 😆 😆 😆
Anyone else got any suggestions?
Is there some sort of reset procedure I can do.
Or does anyone know the error codes?

Read again my 2nd reply to you and carry out those tests.
nilocp wrote:Is there some sort of reset procedure I can do.
Not that I’m aware of though the Whirlpool guys could check the module with their test software. (they all carry laptops to do that these days)
nilocp wrote:Or does anyone know the error codes?
Error codes won’t show as long as the unit you have is at fault. That is why I stress you need first to check the rest of the machine out to establish whether or not a faulty component is causing a problem with the board. If and when it does eventually burst into life and display an error code do get back to us an we can probably tell you what that means.
One thing does seriously puzzle me though……….. If the machine is actually in Barbados as you claim, over there they have 110 volts not 240 volts, so the darn thing wouldn’t work anyway surely as you brought it over from Blighty???
I reckon a trip into Bridgetown to check out the latest Maytags down there be da way forward…..less hassle, stay cool man! 😉 😀

Martin most appliances here, even US, are 220 / 240. All new houses have 110 and 220. 50 cycles just to confuse even more. That’s fun! But 110 barely makes you jump! :rotl: :rotl:

Lights all 110. Power 110 or 220, depending which room you are in!! Sockets have different pin orientation luckily!
