Got the opener for cooling done here please tell me if that makes sense. I do tend to ramble a bit about refrigeration.
Questions so far include…
Fridge or freezer overfreezing
Fridge not cooling
Freezer not cooling
Bad smell coming from the fridge
Fridge leaking
Frost Free Fridge Freezers
Fridge freezer is noisy
There’s lots of ice in my freezer, what is wrong?
Fridge not cooling but freezer cold
Fridge freezer not working at all
Icemaker not working
Where do I get a filter for my fridge freezer?
Bottle holder broken in fridge
Glass shelf in fridge broken
How do I reverse the doors on a fridge freezer?
Please tell me if you can think of or have seen any more in the forums.
Ian can you send me that Samsung document again please as we’re getting slammed on them at the moment… still! The intent here is to be able to say “Go read this, then come back and post”.
The other thing I thought about was to put these in the stickies, the before you post ones or read this first in the hope that it may well cut down on the sillier questions. We can but hope. 😕

Hi
brief electrical safety guidelines
should be basic not brief
The dishwasher is basically telling you that it has detected a problem of some kind and that, without a resolution, it cannot continue with the program. Very often this sort of error will result in the dishwasher being totally inoperative and it will not accept a program at all.
Without knowing what to check and what the error being displayed is it is virtually impossible to offer any sort of guidance as the codes vary, not just between various brand names, but even from model to model.
Dishwasher noisy
When reported this fault will depend on several factors, the main ones being what sort of noise, when in the program and what machine it actually is. So there are many variables here.
However, things to check would be:
• Spray arms or mounts faulty
• Main recirculation motor
• Drain pump faulty
• Drain pump jammed or object trapped
• Object in main recirculation impeller housingDishwasher won’t drain or empty
Yet again this can vary from machine to machine but, in general, it will signify a fault with either the pump or the house plumbing. The reason that it can vary is that some dishwashers use the recirculation motor in reverse to drain the tank, so it can mean that the main motor is faulty and that there actually isn’t a drain pump fitted at all essentially as a cost-cutting method in our opinion.
• Drain pump faulty
• Drain pump jammed or object trapped
• Object in main recirculation impeller housing
• Main recirculation motorDishwasher won’t wash
We get this fault reported as shown in the question but it can often signify a number of possible failures.
What we often find is that what is actually meant is that the spray arms are not turning or are not turning well enough to really do much of anything. Of course this can be caused by many things, lots of which are very much dependent on both the make and model of the dishwasher.
The most common, on machines where there is a capacitor for the motor, will mean that the capacitor is faulty and the motor is running weak or slow.
Another possible cause is that the “C-tube” has split internally on machines where that is used. This is the “C” shaped water delivery tube that feeds the upper and lower spray arms on some models, when it splits there is a loss of pressure to the spray arms and therefore you get a drop in spray pressure and the dishes are not washed correctly. The same effect can be seen by the spray arm housings splitting on some models.
However, probably the most common cause of this is the main recirculation motor with either the capacitor faulty, the main pump impeller jammed or broken up as most of them are made from plastic or the main motor itself being faulty.
• Spray arms blocked
• Pressure loss
• “C-Tube” split
• Motor capacitor faulty
• Main recirculation motor impeller jammed or fault
• Main recirculation motor faultyPoor wash results from the dishwasher
First thing to be doing if you have poor wash results is to look at the filters and also the spray arms, there is an article devoted to the subject that you can… Whole type has hyper link to the search facility, is that correct?
• Correct detergent use (overfoaming)
should be Incorrect ?

KeymasterRight do your worst on the fridge one as I’ve updated it a little. 😉
Mark, Ian, Gegsy can you check for any deliberate mistakes please?

It is absolutely vital when replacing a thermostat that you do not kink, cut or break the “phial” which is the long pliable wire that goes to the back wall or plate as it is filled with gas. The expansion and contraction of that gas is what makes the thermostat actually work.
Might be worth adding also to make sure the phial doesnt come into contact with live connectors in some thermostat head units.
Where do I get a filter for my fridge freezer?
From this link, sorry blatant plug.
No need to be sorry IMHO, we do enough for free 8)
Other than that Ken it seems fine.

KeymasterCome on there has to be something I missed, I’m not perfect! 😕
I still have to do the door reversal one and the integrated “oops the idiot fitter didn’t bother with ventilation” ones, but other than that I can’t think of anything common.
On dish and laundry I’m sure I’ve missed something, I just have this nagging feeling…
Perhaps looking at them sober would help, what you think? 😆

Found the Samsung one Ian wrote up…
Now online with one or two edits additions
If we can expand that at all it’d be good.

All the usual, can you check for accuracy spelling, grammar and missing stuff that really should be there?
Hobs are a seperate issue, it’d have been a novel if I’d done them as well. 😕

had a quick look through K, nothing obvious jumps out, but then I have spent all afternoon setting up my new 42″ plasma TV and surround sound system, not to mention copious wine quaffed in the past few hours.

Ah good so you do relax! 🙂
Enjoy the system and if you want to road test the sound there’s a few reall good ‘uns to use. LOTR movies are good for sound.
For your room, from what you told me, watch the sound steering. 😉
And I spent all bloody day trying to get that damn oven one done between phone calls.
I also updated Chris’ post on the DW forum, the top announcement, with the DW guide info and telling people to search. Dunno if it can be done better though and carried over to the other ones.

Finished up with a £500+ Sony amp,it has a nifty auto calibration system, a small mike on a long lead that you position in your optimum listening area, it then goes through a 30 second test routine with bleeps, buzzes and all manner of sounds wizzing between speakers. May do a bit of manual tweaking when I get the time.
