Re: XCans of worms disguised as boxes of washing powder…

    Hi, Kate,
I know it’s a bit late to resurrect an old thread,BUT.

There is a Proctor and Gamble product, primarily for hard-surface/utensils/glassware cleaning in the catering industry. to me, it looks like unscented washing-powder.

the product is DEEPIO (the grease-buster) I used to get it in a 12.5 kilo box, but IIRC there’s also about a 3 kilo size.
Yes, i used it for laundry-all the whites and coloured’s from a fish-and-chip shop. cost about the same as supermarket “basic”powder, per kg.

Excellent product, maybe you should write to P&G outlining your problems and ask for a sample.

Catering suppliers/wholesalers stock it, also Bookers cash/carry. (trade-only , but they CAN issue a “visitor pass” and do a “courtesy-sale” )…rules are there courtesy of Inland Revenue/Customs to stop caterers cooking the books :rolls:

Regarding your cesspit, time to get a septic tank ! foul water in, clean water out! add a reed-bed and you have a sound ecological system….it’s normal in rural France and there it’s trouble-free.

Emptying is a very infrequent occurence, just when the solid precipitate takes too much space for efficient bacterial action.

The product is OK, but my skin is not! That stuff eats me. I used to use it in a hotel kitchen, and I needed industrial strength rubber gloves. They had to get me several pairs of Extra Small in specially.

Septic tank would be lovely, but the cesspool is in the back garden of a terraced house built in 1928, and is shared with two properties. Access aside, we are both single income families due to age and infirmity. The cost of changing over is too great for the present circumstances. Between us we can probably drag together enough shekels for a scour-out (£400-£500), which will help, but not for a total rebuild (last costing about £10,00 for one that fits local planning and what-have-you conditions. We’re in a restricted area on the edge of areas of ‘outstanding natural beauty’, and designated conservation areas), not including restoration of the gardens… Last person in the row who looked into this type of replacement was refuse planning permission as well.

I bought a lotto ticket this week, but missed Wednesday’s roll-over of £12m.

Kate XXXXXX wrote:Thank you. I shall look out for it when the currant vat of Persil runs low. Is it perfumed?

I see Simply have just launched a new non bio with no perfume called Simply Pure.

    Link here

All they need now is a product for colours and I’ll be happy.

OK, an update on the Aquados Non Bio:

One tab did very well on a light load and a lightly soiled load, and did beautifully on the sheets that had a one-night stand and got a quick wash.

Two tabs did the job perfectly on a full load of dark coloured stuff with mud, blood, chocolate and butter ground in with the grass stains… James has been mowing the garden for me, eating chocolate, and generally being a teen-ager!

The scent was more noticeable than that of the Persil, but this may just be because it was different from the normal Persil smell we are used to…

We have had NO skin reactions.

All good stuff, and certainly something to consider when I buy again. I’m now off to see what I can find in the eco-friendly non-bio, pong-free but EFFECTIVE ranges, and see if I can get a few samples. Worth a try, anyway! I’ll report back when I have more info.

Would you do me a favour Kate? Would you let me know what it’s like and I might give it a try? I considering purchasing their dishwasher product to try in our new Bosch & would order it in one go.

Will do. I was also going to make up a full order with some dish washing stuff if the washing powder worked out well. I don’t have to TOUCH that, so it’s not a bother. They assured me that it compared well with Fairy tabs, which we buy now (we stock up when it’s on special offer).
