    I think the point about older customers using traditional ways of finding an engineer is significant. Even those who own a PC are often not that confident about surfing the internet. I also suspect that internet activity is generally less up here in Scotland. Those of you who spend much time looking at Ebay items will perhaps have noticed that there are relatively few sellers in Scotland. This could reflect a more conservative attitude to selling/buying where people prefer to go to shops for things and look in the local paper for tradesmen.

    Stopped all our advertising with Yell book and Yell.com nearly two years ago, saved over 4K a year and our cash customers still find us, as with Alex I advertise on Google and other search engines, mainly because we deal mostly with built in appliances and Gas Range cookers.

    Have noticed though that our customers are a lot younger so I think the point of the older customer using the Yell book is probably a fair assumption, dont see many PCs in our older customers homes !! 😉
