KeymasterHello Everyone,
I’ve got a 3 year old Zanussi DCS14W (tabletop dishwasher). I had it on a normal wash, then noticed it was leaking, not too badly though, underneath.
I switched it to drain and it drained fine. Now, no matter what programme I have it on, or whether the power button is on or off, it constantly tries to drain.
An engineer told me it could be irrepairable if it’s water in the motor (something about the anti-leak mechanism). Is my dishwasher doomed?
Thanks in advance for your help! 😀

In fact, it now seems to be making a kind of whirring noise rather than a draining noise. Worried now..

KeymasterHi Lou Lou,
Anything can be repaired, it’s whether its worth it or not that’s the question. I’m not familiar with the newer table tops from Zanussi but one of the Service Force guys should be able to point you in the right direction.
I’d doubt very much that it’s doomed though.

A second diagnosis (on the phone mind you) from another engineer, is that it’s the same fault, and it’s too costly to repair.
So if anyone wants a DCS14W for spares in the Glasgow area.. 🙁

Loulou,
I doubt those engineers were from SERVICE FORCE (the approved repairers) were they? And can I suggest that unless you contact Service Force and ask, you may well get put off by other comments purely and simply because not only do they not want the job, but have’nt a clue about it or have seen one. They then simply (dare I suggest) spin a yarn to put you off 🙁
Personally I reckon its just a slight leak that needs sorting and would be cheap to fix, by the right person/company 😉

Thanks for the replies, kwatt, and Martin, much appreciated 😀
The engineer who diagnosed the fault (on the phone)! said he is “Zanussi approved” but it could be flannel..I’ve phoned Service Force, but I’m not keen to pay £56 call out charge to be told the same thing. (The engineers conveniently don’t take phone calls).
So, in a last ditch attempt to save my little dishwasher, impertinent little me has emailed them..fingers crossed..

Just another thought….If you tip it backwards to drain off what I believe will be a flooded bottom panel, then try the machine again, it may well operate normally 💡
Has no-one mentioned that little tip to you before I wonder ❓
Before doing such a thing :plug: DO PULL THE PLUG FIRST :zap:
…and have a cloth handy to mop up the water 😉

I’ve got one of these models and have no problems with it, but first thing to check is your fill hose if that is dripping the water will end up into the base and trip the anti flood. I had this problem when i first installed mine (and I’m an engineer 😳 )

Thanks for your advice everyone. The strange whirring noise it’s now making..is that also a symptom of the anti-leak device?
Hopefully Service Force will answer my email (probably in the cyber bin, seeing as I’m too tight to cough up £56!). 😆
If all else fails I’ll phone out another engineer to have a look, I’m not au fait with plumbing or I’d tackle your suggestions myself. And my kitchen’s a bit teeny to tip it backward 😕
One of the guys I spoke to yesterday said that emptying the bottom is just a temporary fix?
I’ll post the outcome when the engineer calls.

H.
Possibly its just the pump running constantly ( a sign of the anti flood activated) would definatly see what the engineer says.
Have you booked service force or have you tried the repairs@ for a local independant repairer?
as i said in my previous post i have one of these and really they are a very good fairly simple design and should be simple to repair

Thanks for the speedy replies, Clyde. The Repairs@ system doesn’t seem to show anything for Glasgow.. 🙁 I’m just going to phone an independent engineer via the Yellow Pages.
Service Force wanted £56 call out charge, which I felt was too steep ❗February 4, 2005 at 12:31 am #124935Penguin45
ParticipantLouLou, check the Directories section with your post code. I think the Gaffers company will cover your patch.

LouLou,
Further to my earlier posting, Clyde has also hinted on the likely cause, especially as your first comment was that you noticed a leak yourself. Your kitchen may be a bit teeny but in order it be inspected will necessitate tipping it backwards slightly just to check.
You could do that and at no cost either 😉
DO PULL THE PLUG FIRST THOUGH :plug:

Thanks everyone for your help. My PC died not long after my last post..and I’ve not been at home during the day, so the dishwasher has laid in the kitchen all forlorn. 😥
I tried phoning back these so-called Zanussi approved engineers today, (who I’ve waited in 3 times to appear), and was told tabletops are not worth repairing because of what they cost (His words, I assume he means the parts are costly??). Changed his tune since the last few times we had spoken! 👿
I can’t find anyone else, other than Service Force (too expensive, just for the call out!!) in Glasgow to look at my DCS14W. HELP!! Anyone got any phone numbers!!March 11, 2005 at 4:46 pm #124938LouLou

OK, I should’ve signed in (see above post) 😳
Yes, my kitchen is cramped, but I’m a bit nervous about taking out pipes at the back (I leave these things to more capable hands 😕 ).
I’ll try phoning the Ayrshire number under Directories, and let you know how it goes..
