OK, I think I’ve traced the tubes. There is a skinny one (orange in colour) than runs from the sump to the inlet water solenoid. The second is a clear tube which runs from the sump to a 2 inch dia disc with 3 terminals on it. Both tubes have some water in them. Judging by one of the replies this isn’t normal?. What next? How do I test these switches? As one is air pressure activated I don’t think I can.
Many thanks again for all your assistance
    Regards

The dishwasher is now working again! After checking for water in the skinny tubes I found that both had some in. The one leading to the inlet water solenoid had quite a lot in it. So I disconneceted both tubes at the actuator ends and blew the excess water back into the sump. Now it all works like a dream. I guess that there was an air leak – it it happens again ther’s enoygh slack in the tubes to cut a piece off and refit with new tube clamps which should fix it.
Now I’ve got to tell the wife – we were on the point of ordering a new Bosch but thankfully you guys have saved me the best part of £300.

    Thanks a bunch,
    Regards
    Peter
