I think we should be careful about estimating job times over the internet as so much depends on the plumbing set up, size of working area, amount of limescale build up in machine etc.
Have taken 4 hours to do this job in a pokey little kitchen with lots of limescale to remove but have also done the same job 1hr 20 mins were the machine was in the customers garage and was connected to a water softner. Never been impressed by speed merchants they will always get a higher call back rate and a bad reputation.

Indeed!
I was quoting my estimated charge for doing that job. I should of pointed that out! 😳

I charge £140 total to do zanussi bearings + shaft and £155 for the washer dryers. I guess labour rates vary depending on the areas we work in.

Sorry to re-open this old thread of mine, but I’m afraid I have to report that the replacement bearings have failed, disappointingly having only lasted a year. Perhaps the shaft was also damaged.
I think this time I’ll do the replacement myself, although, as I’ve seen, it’s a tricky and time-consuming job. (I can’t help thinking that, with better design, it could have been possible to change bearings without having to remove the tub – reminds me of that Fiat where you have to remove the engine for the routine replacement of the timing belt.)
I’ll hop over to the parts forum to check what I need for this particular machine.
Damn these manufacturers for concentrating on gimmicks like spin speed at the expense of basic components like bearings!

I did, thanks. It seems to suggest:
1) Zanussi bearings fail.
2) Replacing them is hard.
3) I should expect to replace the spider, too.—

zanussi bearings dont fail any more than any other brand, and if they are badly worn it can be a pig of a job to do.

OK, I read your thread and decided to attack the job of replacing the bearings….
