Drum unit is in now, and surprisingly straightforward it was too.
It was nice to shove those hard to get out cotter pins back in as well where they belong !
Door seal is also in place, but wondering how to make sure the plastic retainer is as tight as it can be. My adjustable spanner won’t reach both bits to pull them together.

Have just had a dinner break and all seems to be pretty plain sailing, just reconnecting the rubber pipes into the right places etc..
Now going to reconnect the motor and electrics before putting the carcase back together.
I’m thinking that I should do an empty boil wash first time around just to make sure all is well ?

I’ve gone and committed a cardinal sin !
I’ve completely reassembled the carcase before running a test wash, which means if it doesn’t go according to plan I’ve got to disassemble it all again.
Now for the test wash.

Machine should not be run with the rear casing removed as it’s all too flexible.
Giving the machine a good boil out with powder is always a good idea……. 😀

Thank goodness for that. Good job I completely re-assembled the machine. Anyway, the good news is that it has run very well and since last night, its done 3 cycles including the first boil cycle.
My confidence boosted, I’ve now realised that the tumble dryer which has for years been very noisy, is also suffering from worn bearings. So, thats my next assignment, though I won’t bore this forum with a bolt by bolt account..
For interest, the tumble dryer is a Zanussi TD200 – Its an old machine, but its still running fine, even though its noisy..

I’m sure the respect is mutual, tdubya would no doubt admire the fact that most of us would have to do that job plus five or six other calls in a normal days work.
well done all the same. 😉

Parts for your dryer:
1250134-11/9 – rear bearing assembly – required.
1250232-03/8 – drum shaft – may be required depending on wear.
1250125-11/7 – belt tension pulley – can generate a quite remarkable amount of noise.Order through spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk when you’ve worked out what you need.
