I have never come accross a zanussi with difficult faults. only engineers who cant fix them.

Intermittent faults, oh how we love them! 😆

On the older 62/21’s that’s what I would guess at although, as I said, there are other things that could be faulty, including the defrost timer itself but a 16 hour cycle could well be about right, there’s various times for those and one of the Zanussi guys should be able to shed a bit more light on that for you.

Zanussi ZK 56/38 RF

Compressor is working but the freezer is not freezing. Engineer warned that gas could have leaked inside the case and it would be impossible to refill as it would continue to leak.

Any GOOD zanussi engineer in the Brighton area?

As the refrigerant system is a sealed system if the appliance is over 6mths old it is unussaul for “” shall we say “” Internal leaks “.

Depepending on which refrigerant you have in your appliance depends on the common faults.If you have R134a then this refrigerant is prone to causing blockages in the system that will give the same symtoms as lack of refrigerant,if R600a the it may well be the compressor failing to pump the refrigerant.

It should be fairy easy with modern gauges to see if the system is leaking whilst it is on vacuum.

Try another engineer who is experiences in system faults.

Zk56/38rf is an R134a system, and is NOT prone to internal leaks – I have come across a few of this design with system restrictions – if your lucky the restriction can be cleared, if your unlucky it’ll need a new evaporator which although the part aint cheep its actually not too bad a job to fit. It’s worth getting an experienced zanussi eng to give it a once over, i wouldnt bin it just yet.
