ParticipantZanussi ZWD12270w
get e20 error in cycle
seems to be a drain problem
I thought it was the motor but it seems not (?)
It drains quite strongly for about 30 seconds but then nothing even though the drain still seems to be pumping.
I have tried draining a few times and its the same each time. Strong water pumping for 30 seconds if the drum has some water then nothing though it’s still pumping.
When I check the emergency filter there is still quite a lot of water in there.update :
It seems to drain water in any mode but leaves about 1-2 litres which is in the filter. If I drain a full wash it empties 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the water. So for some reason it keeps leaving ~1 litre in any cycle. A dryer issue ?Any thoughts appreciated.

ignore this.
it seems to drain any amount (1/2 / full) but leaves about 1 litre of water. It seems to start pumping out strongly (I can see the water in the sink) and after about 20 seconds a 2nd motor starts and this seems to stop the draining (but not the motor sounds)

It’s a gravity fed pump and not a suction pump therefore whatever pipe work lies beyond the pump and its final outlet will equal the quantity of water remaining.

thanks
so you mean it is normal in this machine to have maybe 1 litre left ?
The E20 error is a new issue.

tried 2 full washes and a dryer cycle
the 2 washes went ok
But the dryer stopped about 10 minutes in with E20
It seems to be a dryer problem ?November 27, 2015 at 4:02 pm #433167Martin

E20 tumble dryer error refers NOT to a drain fault but indicates a fluff blockage in the condenser unit.

Thanks. Would I be able to fix this myself ?
Where is the condenser unit ?
I have no idea
I see another siphon come out the drum that is not the wash drain siphonNovember 27, 2015 at 4:25 pm #433169Martin

Access to the condenser requires a good degree of major surgery. Lots to remove inside, not for the faint hearted. It might be far better to call in a local repair person if the challenge is too great.
(Sorry but we cannot talk/type you through the various stages in order to assist otherwise) 🙁

OK thanks Martin
I tend to do 2 things that may have caused it.
A few times I have used those ‘woolly tumbler balls’ supposed to help with lofting
I also tend to put quite wet clothes in the dryer.
Anyhow, at least I still have a washing machine.November 27, 2015 at 4:57 pm #433171bigelf

I was reading another site that says to find the fault
select a program (not first one) and press and hold start and button to the leftI tried this and got ‘ ed4 ‘

Oh don’t over complicate the basic problem with possible erroneous fault codes from button pressing.
But ED4 relates to ‘Dryer Relays Faulty’…..nope, mean neither. Disregard 😉

self-fixing : do you think this is beyond me ? e.g. I guess it’s not a case of trying to stick a wire through a pipe ?
Do you think I would need a new part ?
I see Currys would be £119 to repair including part (if I read right)

is this where my fault likely is ?
I think I can see this in the far right corner. With a fanbelt on itNovember 28, 2015 at 7:51 am #433175bigelf

general question
Do new washer dryers still have a potential ‘lint-dryer’ blockage problem ?
Or is it a thing of the past for older machines ?I see indesit washer dryers seem to have a ‘fluff filter’, whereas Hoover do not seem to ?

YouTube is a brilliant media tool but boy does it ever give wrong or bad advice. LG and Zanussi are two separate beasts. Access to each far different.
Lint problems on washer/dryers a major issue. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} don’t have lint filters including Zanussi.
Currys repair service an expensive joke. Local repair guy is who you need call. Don’t start poking wire about meanwhile by the way.
