Hi Dave,
I just checked in the oven and there is no additional visible element on the base (just a grill element on the roof) which stays cool. When I turn the oven on there is heat coming through the slots at the back which suggests that the fan/heater is working. Doesn’t seem all that hot to me though – rather more like a fan heater. But nonetheless there is heat there.
I ran a test at lunchtime, and to get the temp up to 220 I set the thermostat at max 230 as we have had to do recently. It got there but it took 20 minutes. so it is sort of working – but not as it should be. Won’t do for the turkey!
Maybe I am wrong to assume that the swapped thermostat controls proves they are ok. As the cooker is now nearly seven years old might they both have deteriorated through heat etc? I have noticed for a while that the associated LED flickers slightly sometimes when it should be off (that might be a red herring as they both have always seemed a bit hit & miss). The thermostat control is 1 9746 T150. I didn’t open one up – are there some contacts inside which can be cleaned up? It looks as though it should be a cheap item to replace. It’s all a bit of a puzzle but I can’t believe there isn’t a simple answer!.
