Thanks again. I rang a local company and they say uneconomic repair after telling them what I’ve done. More like they couldn’t test PCB.
A new PCB is £110.00 and there’s not one in Europe! The buyers would have to be contacted when next due.
We wash about once a week. So…. I was wondering about a new machine based on this type of usage.
I know the yardstick is Miele, but can you recommend a machine around 350.00.

As far as I can see all the wiring and connectors are fine. i don’t have a meter and would need instruction anyway to test. Would you suggest a call out from an engineer, not AEG but someone local.

It’s a no go here with the NEW switch. Machine still overfills. Other than that it pumps out, washes when draining etc.
I can here a click from the pressure switch when filling but the water doesn’t stop.
You had said that the next step is the board. Bad news it’s not available at present at least it says ring them. How sure can we be that it’s the board?

Okay. As a test (should have done it earlier) I released the pipe from the pressure switch and immediately water rose in the air trap. So this means i have no air leaks? So if the switch is bad then it’s an electrical problem, yes? Or it’s not the switch at all.

Right Dave but if I have a leak in the line i.e. pressure switch maybe, then the trap should fill up, shouldn’t it? As I say don’t get it – the water is not finding its own level.

Right I’ve stripped out the air trap and it’s clear. I filled the drum with 5ltr manually to check for leaks, but the air trap is showing no water in it. Can’t understand this. Does this mean there is a pressure in the line? Don’t get it.

I can’t see any water in the air trap on any program! It is about a third of the way up the door and there’s nothing.

Okay so I’ve taken the hose off now. There are minor scuffs but no holes. There is a bracket on the drum that holds the hose to stop any scuffing. I have passed a thin wire down the hose and blown down it, no probs. Replaced it and the machine still overfills and would probably continue unless I stopped it.
I presume the air trap should fill with water? Especially when the level is really high.
What’s the likelihood of the pressure switch not working after 12 years?

Okay, so the thin hose is fine for twelve years old. Also it doesn’t seem blocked. Passed a thin wire down it and gently moved up and down. The clips top and bottom are good.
Is it possible the pressure switch itself is malfunctioning? As mentioned the machine is overfilling on ALL programs.

A few more details. After the drum ‘overfills’ , which it does on 40 degrees by the way, the drum stops, but one can then put it on a rinse cycle or pump out and it works fine, so I don’t think the motor is the problem, for the moment. We’ve done this of course with or without clothes. The product no is: 91452401501. I will inspect pressure switch hose.

Yes they are secure, double checked them when tightening. They are held by big torx screws, I had the correct bit size in my car kit.
I’ve just wedged the machine between the two floor cabinets and now it runs okay! Not a long term solution though.
Yeah used the original pullley. As mentioned the new tub came in two halfs i.e, spittable. I had to assemble with a neoprene gasket and bolts. I’ve turned the drum and it runs true with the door rubber.
There is one thing that I was wondering. On the plastic tub there are brackets to attach the springs. There are two brackets side by side on each half of the tub. I put the springs back as the existing was. Could it make a difference if I moved them over?

AEG are now doing a two part tub for this machine that has to be bolted with a gasket as opposed to the old welded version. I managed to use the existing stainless interior tub with it’s spider which was in good condition. The plastic tub was brand new and fitted a treat. But somewhere there is a balance problem.
