    Re: Beko CF6914W over freezing

I cut a hole directly in the middle of the sides and about 30 cms from the top a dug out the insulation until I found it , it slides into a bracket a bit like the candy / Hoover thermistors , pretty straight forward

    Re: Beko CF6914W over freezing

turned out to be the thermistor part number 4216602785 that is foamed into the back wall that was faulty , cut into the back replaced it and it works fine .

    Re: Efficiency Rating

Martin , this guy is adament that we have to put a rating on everything along with a user manual ( which we already do ), so much so that he said he would be back in four weeks time to check , I think he is just being a jobsworth

    Re: F gas Certification

was thinking 2 or 3 myself , Star refrigeration seem to be the ones , spoke to local collage every night class full at the moment with the exception of one space left for a five day course which is not practical for myself.

    Re: F gas Certification

The difference between categories is as follows:
Cat I: engineers will be certified to work with any stationary rac systems (it’s the highest category)
Cat II: engineers will be certified to work with stationary rac systems with a charge of less than 3kg
    Cat III: recovery only
    Cat IV: leak checking only

Category I and II involves a practical test and a 50 question on-line theory assessment.
    • Fabricate & fit mechanical and brazed joints
    • Pressure test and evacuate to BSEN378
    • Charge a blended refrigerant
    • Analyse system performance to ensure efficiency (using pressure, temperature, refrigerant state and rule of thumb)
    • Leak test to EC1516/2007
    • Maintain ‘F Gas’ log books and records
    • Handle refrigerant safely & dispose of legally
    • All candidates must demonstrate they can ensure systems are tight, efficient in their use of energy and meet the F Gas legal requirements.

I believe the categories you might be interested are below:
Category III – involves a practical test and a 12 question on-line theory assessment
    • Recover refrigerant from any air conditioning, refrigeration or heat pump system with up to 3Kg of fluorinated refrigerant.
    • Handle refrigerant safely & dispose of legally.
    • Maintain ‘F Gas’ log books and records
    • Describe the hazards associated with refrigerant release.

Category IV- involves a practical test and a 16 question on-line theory assessment.
    • Analyse system performance to ensure efficiency (using information from the system, without attaching gauges)
    • Leak test to EC1516/2007
    • Maintain ‘F Gas’ log books and records
    • Identify potential leakage points
    • Describe the hazards associated with refrigerant release.
Preparation and Assessment Packages for Category III and IV:
Theory training (online) + F-Gas Assessments (theory & practical assessment at one of our branches)”: £350 per engineer
Methodology: The candidate studies the theory online.
Practical training – For engineers who wish to carry out a practical refresher prior to the actual F-Gas Assessment: £100 per engineer
Familiarisation with the Assessment Rig at any Star branch. It includes a demonstration of the assessment rig by our assessor; Individual hands-on familiarisation for each person; and a session covering any questions regarding the practical or theoretical assessments.

What category would fixing domestic fridges fall into?
