    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

I just had someone round to have a look… and it worked straight away for him! 😕 The only thing he did differently was to start the machine on a normal cycle before attempting to drain.

It is definitely more noisy than the old pump, though. 😐

Hmm… I just took another photo for comparison:

BTW: it’s at 6, not 12 o/c… the photo is upside-down! I forgot to rotate it earlier, and haven’t with the one above, neither.

I think that is just the camera flash reflecting off drips of water within the unit. 😕

I’m going to try your Repairs@ service methinks.

That’s what I have been doing. I can drain the water out that doesn’t get pumped out by opening the front filter part.

That does seem to be a symptom.

I can’t see anything stuck in the impellor either:

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

I think I might do, but the water seems to be getting past this.

I just tried to drain again but this time the pump is making some nasty noises, as well as not draining. Again, the water collects in the pump chamber but does not get extracted.

It’s coming up to two weeks without a washing machine now, so it may be time to call in the pros before xmas…

    Hi Martin,

I was sent the three-hole one originally and have just swapped that with the two-hole WD12 pump replacement. I have checked all of the hoses and they seem fine, but I’m not sure what you mean by the ‘eco ball’.

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

Just poured some water straight down after disconnecting from the pump, and it flowed right through. AFAIK I haven’t damaged the hose in moving the unit about.

What’s the best way to find out if something is restricting the flow?

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

So, second attempt on the replacement pump seems to go well… no immediate leaks at least. 😕

However, I put some water in and tried to drain and but nothing was extracted. 🙁 The pump was making its traditional noise but nothing was draining, although I could hear water sloshing about inside. Opening up the front filter part spills out the water, so the pump doesn’t seem to be extracting the water from that chamber.

Did I do something wrong? 😳

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

I will investigate this evening, although I would prefer to use a replacement without this hole rather than start taking things apart. I take it that the replacement wouldn’t have the same problem?

    Thanks,

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

    Hi,

After having removed the pump to return I found where the leak was coming from. If you look at the pumps side-by-side:

you can see that the new one on the left has a hole right the way through! The old one has this protrusion blocked at one end.

    Comparing inside both of them:

you can see the hole in the new one on the left.

Should I still return this item or is there something I should do to block this hole?

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

I ordered the part from you and attempted installation today. Below is the pump before the change:

and this is the new one:

Unfortunately, when I poured some water into the machine to test the new pump, the liquid just leaked straight through the unit. 😥 I have checked the rubber pipes for damage and ensured the clamps and fully securing them to the pump, but can’t see the problem.

Incidentally, it seemed as though the water was leaking from this part on the left:

although it doesn’t seem to be connected to the rest of the pump…?

Any ideas, or should I leave this to the pros now?

    Thanks,

    Marc

    Hmm… it spins freely 🙁

Is it advised to service this myself or get someone in at this stage?

    Thanks,

    Re: Indesit WD12 drainage/noise problem

    Hi,

I have just checked again and can’t see anything there that I don’t think should be. I have placed some photos of what I can see below (sorry about the carpet and dishcloth!):

    Thanks again,

    Marc
