Thousands of customers could lose their deposits on new kitchens after high street firm Moben, who own the Tecnik appliance brand, collapsed yesterday with the closing of 60 stores and staff at the Manchester HQ were sent home yesterday it is reported.

The OFT today advised the Competition Commission that the Domestic Electrical Goods Order and associated undertakings, which cover everyday goods such as televisions and washing machines, can be removed.

Supermarket chain Asda have launched a Russell Hobbs branded washing machine with plans to clean up after launching the world’s fastest washing machine which it is claimed will do a wash load laundry in just 12 minutes.

Leading independent electrical retailer, Bennetts Electrical, which employs about 300 staff in 14 stores across the country, has collapsed. Administrators, PKF, yesterday revealed the extent of the redundancies and said 57 staff had been kept on by Bennetts while efforts continue to find a buyer….
