Hi all,

    ZANUSSI ZWF1430W

My w/c had a small leak and when I removed the top cover I found that the small top vent hose was the source. That has now been fixed by replacing the hose.

However, in the process I observed the drum and noticed it moving around a lot. The problem is that I don’t have experience of doing this on another w/c so no idea if this movement is within normal range or if it is excessive.

This link shows the w/c doing its wash cycle: https://youtu.be/uJLYt8HD-Vc

This link shows the w/c draining and ramping up for its spin cycle: https://youtu.be/l-gp–lpdXk

Does anyone have a comparison to know whether this is normal or not. If not normal then I presume I am looking at replacing the two shock absorbers at the bottom?

I’d say it’s ok too. When the dampers on my Gorenje machine were shot the drum was sometimes hitting the side of the machine and it was also trying to walk its way out from under the worktop!

Thanks for your input tubafan and electrofix. No noises or movement with the lid on, but I just thought it was quite a lot of stress being added to that top vent (which may have made it fail) and the door seal. But if you think it is normal I will leave alone for now.

Hmm. I disagree. I personally think the bottom shocks are going, the machine is the right age for this to happen too and it should not be moving as much. The tank breather pipe is being pulled which is not good either as the plastic tank has or will wear the rubber away where the hose fits into the tank = hence leak. I think you would need 2 shocks and a new breather pipe. Shocks are sold a singles part number 3794303010 at 24 quid each ( so you`ll need 2, they are both the same ) and the steam vent hose ( that I call the breather pipe ) is part 1322899004 @ 10 quid all parts quoted off Zanussi spares website and based on your model number as product code 91451723100 – check your label. You might get them cheaper elsewhere, maybe check the prices on uk whitegoods spare site, frankly at 4.20 am I haven`t. What I can tell you is that the shocks are 22 quid plus vat each off the so called trade site called Qualtex and so are more expensive than buying from Zanussi direct! Who says that this trade does not make sense?
