    Hi,
The fridge compartment of my fridge freezer is not getting cold. I was told by a repair engineer that it was kaput and to buy a new one – but I don’t believe his diagnosis of a worn out compresssor. The freezer runs perfectly and happily gets down to below -35°C. The fridge section is fully sealed and I guess cold air is blown up from the freezer to the back of the fridge but I can’t see how.
It is currently sat in my garage, and I have another fridge but I refuse to scrap it until I figure it out – even if it means sawing it up.

On a seperate note – I’m sure others have had a similar problem. Is there a way of indexing problems/solutions to save wading through hundreds of topics?
    Cheers, Stewart

They are indexed in a database, use the search function 😀

Getting to your problem though, as this is a frost free unit it’s one of a few things:

Defrost problem blocking the air flow, as you say, the fridge relies on cold air being “blown” up there from the freezer.

    Fan motor failure

    Compressor failure

    Short of gas

Ask for a second opinion, the original engineer could be correct, if the compressor is failing and there isn’t sufficient “pressure” or gas being pumped it could well cause this problem.

And don’t saw it up eh, that’s just silly 😉

    Dave.
