ParticipantHi,
I have a Bosch WVD24520 that clearly has a significant fault that it would be great to get any opinions on from anyone
So, I ws just doing a normal cotton wash then on a particular part of spin cycles, seems to be towards upper end of the cycles rpm, a very loud rhythmic banging occurs.
There’s also friction between the inside of the door seal and the basket lip with the lip of the basket heating up. aqueaks a bit with manual turning.
I’m no expert clearly but I did a lighter balanced load and looking at the circular pattern at the back of the basket through the door, the spun doesn’t seem symmetrical. I took the top panel off. The two suspension springs look OK. I cannot remove the main side panels as I don’t have the correct torx tool.
From what I’ve read I’m thinking broken suspension strutt or spyder, but can’t see them.
I can include pics if needed.

Moderatorspider failed
Bosch has it proced at £162 then you need other parts to fit it
I have guessed at your machine as Enr is incomplete

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks awfully for the reply.
Enr is Bosch WVD24520GB/11.
How confident are you with that diagnosis?
Absolutely not impugning your expertise incidentally
Cheers

I’m assuming this is the correct spare?
Thank you

Moderatorthat spare looks correct
Bosch list it here
https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/supportdetail/product/WVD24520GB/06#/Tabs=section-spareparts/get them to confirm price first as it looks like a special order item and the price may not have been updated
as for the problem
there are 3 legs to the spider. Chances are 1 has snapped. If you put weight on the drum by pushing down you should see it moved.move each paddle to the bottom and try. The very fact its now out of true and rubs the boot is a good indication I am right but can never be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

ParticipantWhat other bits are needed to fit it Dave?
Do you recommend getting a quote for fitting from an engineer or having s bash myself? I’m a reasonable DIY mechanic.
Cheers.

Moderatora lot depends on your skill
other parts i would consider are
1 bearing seal. not avaiable from Bosch but its here
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/7811729-drum-bearing-seal2 grease to lubricate above. Last a lot longer with it
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/universal-bearing-seal-sealant-grease
3 tub half seal. You may well get away without this just depends on condition

ParticipantYou can get a really strange one with these things. The spider actually visually has not cracked an arm but where the shaft is embeded in the ally spider it flexes at that point on most loads causing rubbing of the rubber door seal, a somewhat dreadful noise and a concentic running drum at top whack spin speed.
