Hi – my Bosch (probably 10 years old and owes me nothing) has started vibrating when spinning and making REALLY LOUD banging noises. I took the lid and rear panel off today for a look and originally thought the lower shock absorbers were shot. Top springs look ok.
However it seems the cause is the metal drum is off axis or loose within the plastic housing. It spins round easily enough but can be moved up/down/sideways very easily resulting in the same noises when in operation – is that likely to be the bearing or spider? Looks like a fairly involved job – worth repairing?

    cheers

Your drum spider support is cracked. The spider ( an aluminium alloy ) has 3 arms and a hub with the bearing shaft, 1 or more arms has rotted and cracked. The spider comes with a new drum as one unit but to be sure I would need the ENr model number as read off your label which is on the inner door frome near or at the top of the door. Not exactly cheap to get done and involved. Most folks would call it a day and buy a new machine and I would advise you to do just that.
