My 5ish year old Electrolux ESL5201LO has developed an intermittent issue. The drying cycle doesn’t seem to work properly but this doesn’t happen all the time. I’ve opened the door during the wash and the water was warm. This comes after another intermittent issue which hasn’t re-occurred for a good while, it seemed to be getting ‘stuck’ on the wash cycle for hours on end. Like I say though, that doesn’t seem to be happening any more but the drying issue crops up fairly often, it’s pretty much cold end in there when you open the door at the end of the cycle as opposed to the clouds of steam when it’s working properly.
    Any ideas please?

Thanks Dave, There’s current to it sometimes – that’s the problem. It’s an intermittent issue. I don’t know how I can “advance” the cycle to the dry stage when it’s playing up and see if there’s current then.

intermittant faults are hard to find and thats your biggest problem

I think if it was me i would start by replacing the motor tacho coil. this is not a part electrolux supply but the coil off a beko washing machine fits ok. this coil detects to see if the motor is turning and wont turn on the heater unless it does. its a common no heat failure if the element is ok

do a google search for 372205505

oh right thanks – what role does the circulation pump play when drying please?

well the water has to heat up so things will dry so motor has to be running during the heating phase. Once its heated the pump does not play any part in the drying process as its down to the rinse aid and heat
