I took a further look at the door itself and found it to be low on the lock side such that the door had to be ‘lifted’ slightly in order for the catch to locate the lock. I suspect that my wife’s ‘slamming’ of the door had caused the inner section of the door to move out of alignment with the outside of the door such that a gap could be seen around the doors two component join. The door was ‘gently’ realigned and now works.
Thanks for responding. Next question will probably be “if had needed the interlock component where would I have sourced it for Southern Spain?”
