ParticipantHi,
Last week we turned on the working but old dryer. We noticed a vague burning smell and now the dryer has no heat. We bought a new and compatible heater unit (thermostat and element) which we tried today but it still spins round but cold.
The wiring on the new unit is different colours but as connection is ‘plug and play’ I assume this is not an issue. The condenser and filters are fully clean and it completes the cool down period each cycle.
Any suggestions on what could be stopping the dryer from creating heat if not the Thermostat or Elements would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Moderatorok look inside the dryer at the back at the back wall and look for a head of a pop rivet in the circumference
thats inside the drum where you put the clothes
or post a very clear picture so i can see
also look around the dryer and see if you can see a sticker with a green spot on it and let me know if its there

ParticipantHi, my partner looked in the drum and could see nothing but the bolts that hold it in place. He also looked around it for a green spot sticker but couldn’t see anything or even a residue of where it could have been.

Moderatorok go here
https://safety.hotpoint.eu/match.jsp?lang=en_GB
ok its older then 2016 so click box
then confirm no green stickerthen your asked to enter model and serial no
it will ask for a purchase date so make something up before jan 16
dont tell them you bought it second hand just in case it makes a difference. one of the family bought it new or something like that or you did and lost reciept and cant remember where it came from
you are asked for your details and will be asked at some point to upload pics of label and drum inner
if all goes to plan they will replace the dryer with a new one at no cost or if you pay extra an upgraded one
