Hi everybody, can anybody shed any light on this problem I have a customer with a Siemens WM14Q478GB/21 washing machine with a E23 error code, when googled this suggests float switch in the base of the appliance, but this appliance does not have a solid base our a float switch. Any thoughts anybody 🙂 Regards Neil

Does it progress through the cycle?

Hi, no it errors out as soon as you press start, I have checked element continuity and insulation and that checks out fine. The motor is a synchronous Motor with no carbon brushes. Thanks Neil:cool:

Ah, OK, I was thinking faulty flow meter, but then program would usually progress through with high water level

well according to the Siemans E23 is flooded base as expected but as you say this machine is not fitted with it.

the ciruit to the flood switch can either be open circuit thats closed when flooded or closed circuit that open when flooded

    so

the only thing i can thing of is all machines have this facility and to stop it coming up on machines without they may short out the connector with a wire link

or if the opposite is true the connector has been contaminated with a leak shorting the plug to cause the error

Hi Dave, yes that is a possibility I have downloaded a wiring diagram, I will go back and do some more investigations. Thanks Neil

Try this the reset procedure when all the lights illuminate do not turn the dial to off instead turn to position 6 and press start this should start the fill and heat process as this is a test procedure if this doesn’t active its possible a module fault
