Customer complains that it’s leaking from the bottom, appliance is a couple of years old but has hardly been used due to this problem (out of warranty). Sometimes the water container is half empty, even with a full load. Pump impeller looks in good condition and rotating freely but it gives 110 ohms. Seems quite low for a 26W pump, was expecting double, more like 220 ohms.
Anyone know what resistance the pump should be on this model?

would not worry about pump. there is inductance in play as well as resistance, plus if it was only 110 ohms it would be drawring over 100W and would probably go on fire. the fact its not means its ok

as for the leak can be 2 things
    water overflow from somewhere
    or
condensation from bad seals letting into case and dripping down

any water getting into the draw ?

Yes some, but not as much as expected. It’s as if it’s not pumping the water correctly and instead overflows. As well as a filter at the front of the evaporator, this machine has an insert with another filter underneath the evaporator/condenser (position 563, part no M507525 on ASWO), I’m not sure what its purpose is. Now wondering if it’s got anything to do with it.

try taking the lid off , pull out the draw . then pour half a pint or so into the draw base. this should run down to the pump chamber.

then start it and see how it pumps

there could be a blockage around the pump inlet as lint can build up over time

    Thanks Dave,

Appliance has hardly been used, but I’ll do as you suggest and report back.

Went back this morning and was able to work out how this model works. It has an Auto clean function.
As far as I can tell the pump comes on, which feeds the water up into the water container. Said water container has a trap door-like flap at the bottom towards the front. The pump stops, then a small metal rod sticks out and pushes the lever that opens the flap, some of the water is fed back down on top of the front of the evaporator, is filtered through the insert I mentioned a couple of messages up, and goes back to the pump. The pump then comes back on again and pumps up the water again. This cycle is repeated every few minutes.

I was able to establish there was no problem with the pump, but my guess is that the customers had not been removing the fluff from the various filters often enough and that would have probably caused the problem. I removed some lint that seemed to be blocking what looked like a grid or a groove just before the evaporator, which may or may not have made a difference. They had also been ignoring the machine’s pleas to run a maintenance programme (indicated by the letters CrE for 5 seconds when switched on).

I don’t get to work on top end machines very often, so rarely encounter this level of sophistication. However, the system seems very prone to blockages if not maintained regularly. There are 4 filters to keep clean, which might be asking too much of users!

Appreciate the pointers, today was definitely a school day.

yes fluff is the big problems with heat pumps

went to a samsung last week the was not working properly

core looked clean at the front but on digging in with bent wire it was blocked solid stopping air flow

the previous engineer had changed the pump for reasons only known to him

This dryer also has a outlet set 0570 which connects to the pump it has a actuator that diverters the watering you ever have one not filling the container check this as I’m changed a few

    That’s really helpful, thanks!
Where does it divert the water to or from?

With the phasing out of vented and condenser dryers, I can see this type of work fast becoming our bread and butter
