ParticipantHi
I have recently lost 2 loads of food in my fridge freezer because it has turned itself off. It is a 3 year old Bosch series 2 model. When I opened the fridge door, the interior light didn’t come on and it appeared to have no power. I unplugged it and checked the fuse, which was OK. When I plugged it back in, the fridge freezer began working normally and the temperature alarm sounded until it had cooled down. First I assumed there had been a power glitch or the mains plug wasn’t seated properly but 2 weeks later it did the same thing and I lost another load of food. When it turns itself off I get no warning because the alarm doesn’t sound.
It is out of warranty now so the minimum call out fee is £109 from Bosch. I wonder whether an overheating sensor is tripping? I have it in the kitchen which doesn’t get particularly hot and both sides are in free air. Looks like a new control module can be picked up for about £90 but if it is a dodgy temperature sensor, that won’t help.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Moderatorif temp sensor had failed you should still have lights
assume you have tried a different socket just in case but it does sound like a power chip failure on the circuit board
lookied up the module up and its £66 so £90 sounds a bit steep
cant promise I am correct but module sounds likely

ParticipantThanks for the fast reply. Yes, I was looking at the wrong module and have found the right one now. Btw, do you know if it is possible to find a wiring diagram or service manual for this model or do Bosch keep them all locked up?

Moderatorno chance, unless you have a freindly bosch service agent you have no hope
another option that may be cheaper is
not used them myself but other forum members have so cant attest to reliability but your fault does sound like a power chip which are really cheap and easy to fix

ParticipantThanks for your help. If it does it again, I think I’ll try a new module as it isn’t that expensive and minimises down time, otherwise I would try the PCB business.
