ParticipantHi all,
I am having issues with my Miele wt945. There is no water going into the drum. I can hear and see water going into the detergent dispenser drawer and can also hear & see the water being constantly being drained/pumped out. I have cleaned out the filters (fluff filters, water filters)and even fitted a new triple inlet valve, also checked the water in and drain hose – which are both clean and good.
If I put on a rinse or wash cycle i get the flashing red light for the “Water inlet/drain indicator”.. but can hear (see if I open the drawer) the water going into the drawer but instantly being pumped out the drain hose – seems like it is bypassing the drum.
Also even when not in any cycle/programme mode the pump jumps starts up on its own. The only time the drain pump is not on/running is if I put it on a drain cycle or spin cycle, then the machine works as it should, it drains/spins and finishes without any errors and no constant drain pump running… but after a while despite the cycle finishing the pump starts up again.. and will only switch off if I turn the machine off. When it is spinning the pump does not run
The bottom of the machine is dry and has no signs of any leaks. I tried tipping the machine back to see if there was any water at the bottom too, in case there was any anti-flood switch.
I was told it might be controller/PCB issues, can anyone suggest anything else that count be causing the issue? Or sort I just try buying a 2nd hand controller unit and see if resolves the problem? Or can i try fixing the controller??Thanks in advance

Moderatorfirst thing I would do is pull the pcb and look for water damage
had a few of them where water has got to the thin tracks at the bottom of the board causing corrosion and shorting the tracks together

ParticipantThank you, I had a quick look tonight see the pics attached of the circuit board(s) on the outside or is it the main parts inside the plastic part (downloaded a pic of that too) that I need to look at?
I can take a better proper/detailed look tomorrow
Thanks for your help and advice 🙂July 5, 2025 at 9:56 am #493196electrofix
Moderatoryes it the board the selector knob is attached to
while your in there if you can. locate the relay operating the pump and check its not permanently closed

ParticipantThank you electrofix.
I don’t want to force things and break any of the plastic bits. is there any diagrams or videos of how to take off the board? I removed the connectors and the 4 screws as in the pic.. Thank you againJuly 5, 2025 at 3:18 pm #493198electrofix
Moderatorno unless there is a utube somewhere
a lot of them clip in it just figuring which clips come off first

ParticipantThank you
I have been told/read that “the problem with replacing boards yourself is that there can be different boards for different machine serial numbers and even if you manage to get the correct one it may need to be programmed on the machine” is this correct?

Moderatormiele apart from the price is not normally a problem
but have not fitted used boards

ParticipantDarn, I am struggling to even take the front knobs off.. its like they are stuck on with superglue.. tried putting a flat screwdriver in the gap behind the knobs the pulling on them but they are not coming off.. I don’t want to snap them off or break them. Is there any tricks or correct method to pulling them off instead of using brute force?

Moderatoryes knobs can be stiff and getting the plastic front off can be fun as well. it should push down about a mm and then come out of the top

ParticipantThanks and woohoo.. I managed to get knobs then board out!.
It all looks fine to my eyes. However I found some circuit board diagrams in wallet attached to the inside of the machine. I am wondering whether the drain pump relay is not on the mainboard out elsewhere on the machine with a wire from wherever the relay is going to the mainboard???
From the papers the following:
A – drain
M8 – drain pump.
I took pics of the docs and attached. also links for larger images

Moderatorthat looks ok quickly
the power relay for the pump will possibly be one of the orange relays but i cant see the whole board
often there are little orange ones for the pump and valves etc but they could be black

ParticipantThere is a secondary board (EFL900) that has 3 orange and black with connects to the mainboard (EPW900). The reason I thought relay for the pump might be elsewhere is that in there is mention of M8 (drain relay) in both the diagrams and in one of the diagrams it looks there is a 2 pin/wire connector going to it???

Moderatorwhat you will have to do is buzz the wires through and find out where it goes
disconnect the pump and using a meter find out which board contacts they go to

the diagram should give you an idea where to look
