KeymasterHi, my kitchen table is a bit short, I have to take my washer lid off before push it inside.
I got a new Hotpoint WD420 , how to take the lid off? I have taken out 2 screwers on the back, but i still can not take the lid off.
Please advise. Many thanks.

Thanks litlor .
I have just taken the lid off, however, it looks ugly.
Will that be noisy if I take lid off? is the washer performance the same with before?
I have to survive with the washing machine even it has no lid.
It was my diy’ers fault, they made my kitchen table 10mm lower. Most of washers are 85cm tall, however, the space underneath my table is only 83cm and it is not adjustable!

It’ll be noisier. Ideally you need some sort of top on to stop little fingers getting in, as well as the ingress of dust and crud.
Dave Conway may be able to advise if there is a height reduction kit for that model.

There are height reduction kits available for the WMA cabinet based machines. They will reduce the height from 850mm to 820mm.
Part number will depend on the colour of your machine. What is the letter after WD420 on the rating plate on the door hinge., G, P or T.

The part you require should be a 9080P Height Reduction Kit. Dave Conway should be able to supply, it is not a high use item so I cannot give you any idea as to price at this time on Saturday 😉 . I would strongly advise that you do not use the machine without a top of some kind.

Looking at the diagrams for the WMA type machines and the one for your WD420 show what appears to be the same cabinet except for a different mains cable/mains filter fitting and some small holes in the lower back to allow the ‘Indesit’ type PCB to be fitted. The top of the cabinet looks identical but it is only an on screen diagram. It would be safer to make certain before ordering, I can find no reference for kits for late machines.
I will try and find more info for you if I can.July 2, 2005 at 8:00 pm #140124kwatt
KeymasterHi Steve, Dave will pick this up no doubt, but you can mail him on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you like.

Is the “Height Reduction Kit” a lid or 4 feet?
How it looks like?
😕

It varies from model to model, it can be either or a combination of both.

Just spoken to an old friend (still at hotpoint), in a word he is not sure if 9080P will fit post 2003 machines. He has no other info than is on the web site.
At under £20 for the kit I would think it a reasonable risk to take, far better than using it without the top on. Please make sure the plug is pulled before attempting to fit. -
