    Hi,

I’ve got an old under-counter Philips fridge, with icebox. Sorry about not giving a model number – I know it’s a good decade or so old, but somehow can’t find the model number. If someone could let me know where it’s likely to be if the number would be handy…

Anyway, what’s happened is that the light has gone out in the fridge. As far as I can tell it’s still cooling OK – when I turn it to a cooler setting, the motor kicks in, at least… Is the light likely to be something I can repair myself? I’m reluctant to spend much on a fridge this old, so I guess – unless other problems are likely to follow from a blown light – I could also tolerate this for now…

I guess option 3 would be to replace the fridge, though. If so, can anyone recommend a decent, reliable, fairly cheap under counter fridge with ice compartment (or, ideally, with a separate freezer compartment if such a thing exists) Or, if I look for a secondhand fridge, any makes to look out for or avoid?

    Thanks in advance for replies…

It’s probably just the bulb I would imagine. A 15w ses pygmy bulb which you can get pretty much any electrical store should be the correct one.

Model number will be next to the salad bin on the rating plate normally.

Thanks – sounds wonderfully like a straightforward fix 😀

One more question – any idea how the cover over the bulb is likely to come off?

There may either be a small screw at the back or it unclips, if you can find the model I should be able to be more precise 😀

    Dave.
