    Hope someone can help!
I have a Zanussi ZR25/1W fridge with freezer compartment. The freezer compartment is producing too much ice and has ended up cracking the compartment door so now the freezer is on overload and is completley encased in ice. Is there any way that i can disconnect the freezer compartment allowing the fridge to continue working correctly? I think that this appliance is a single compressor unit.
    Thanks! 🙂

Basically, no. The freezer compartment is the evaporator which in effect keeps the fridge cool.

Won’t a defrost resolve the over-icing problem ? Even if the door is cracked it should work OK after the ice has been removed. Please don’t attack the ice with anything, switch the fridge off and allow it to defrost naturally with the main door open, you’ll have to catch/mop up the water though I’m afraid 🙁

Whay Dave says and a hair dryer would be handy used with EXTREME care, you don’t want water dripping onto 240V AC as it’s not nice.
