In 70 years of dealing with these, I found that they weren’t about for the first 35……… 😀
I have had 2 or 3 where the nut has come loose and the pulley starts slopping about. These all very quickly changed the key way from a “double D” into a “Figure of 8”. Steel in alloy, no woodruff key, obvious really. No amount of tighteneing will remove the slack, as it is in the lateral plane rather than the compression plane.
