Korea-based appliance maker LG Electronics announced that its drum washing machine brand Tromm exceeded the 1 million mark 3 years after its release.
The company said it sold a total of 1.5 million washing machines in the Korean market, which was two-thirds of the total drum washing machines sold in the market.
LG estimates that in 2002 drum washing machines totaled 13.5 percent, or 200,000 units, of the 1.48 million washing machines sold in Korea. However, according to LG, the figure increased to 32.4 percent, or 450,000 units, out of 1.39 million in 2003, and 41 percent, or 570,000 units, out of 1.39 million in 2004.
LG said the increase is expected to continue in 2005 to more than 57.1 percent, or 800,000 units, out of 1.40 million. (Chosun Ilbo)
