ParticipantHi Guys
The dryer is just over a year old and the drum has stopped turning altogether.
It is solid, wont move in either direction.
I have noticed since purchase there has been a lot of fluff all over the room. Is this normal for a condenser dryer?

:eeek: It doesn’t sound good to me.
Those Candy/Hoover dryers have a very weak (IMO) drum contruction. The shaft on the back of the drum might have snapped or the bearing might have collasped.
Note the ‘mights’!
An engineer could tell you after looking at the machine for 5 minutes…
Click Repairs@ for an local engineer.
And if your having a look yourself, unplug the appliance first!

Thanks Goatboy for the rapid response.
What would I be looking for if this was the case?

Vertical movement on the back of the drum.
Where the shaft goes through the bearing, in should rotate in the bearing, but not move up and down or sideways.
This can be done without removing any panels.
Just open the door and see if the drum is loose (towards the back).

Hi goatboy
Have checked – the drum IS NOT loose. It is totally solid with no movement front to back. In fact it does not move in any direction.
Would it be possible for a piece of clothing to have got into the drum and caused the jam?

Hmmmmm, not really 😕 But anything is possible.
I really sounds like you need some professional help. Have you tryed Repairs@ to see if there’s anybody in your area?

I have never used the Repairs@ service.
What would you consider to be an appropriate charge for the Glasgow G75 area?
I don’t mind paying for the call out and estimate if it is a reasonable amount.

One of the more senior member will have to correct me if I’m wrong…
I think if you use the repair@ service, it will give you contact information for engineers in your area. Then you can contact them and ask about their charges.
