ParticipantHad an out of balance issue 2 months ago and now last night itj ust won’t power up at all. Tried changing power switches and no luck. Had the main board changed a few years back ,it was just 2 weeks out of warranty(typical) Where do I check now.

Do the obvious first – power coming in at all? After the power switch, it feeds through the display board, so that would be the next place to check – burnt/blown tracks etc.
Awkward with guarantee just out – kick up a dust and see what you can get? A lot of manufacturers may be flexible or offer a discount towards further service, although we do have a few majors in the UK who absolutely won’t.
Power off if circuit testing.

Will power off or face the consequences.
Not being a tech, do I just look for a small smouldering mess or black spots etc on the main board?
Does this model have a cut out switch/overload at all?…just a thought.November 13, 2005 at 7:43 am #153822chauscon

Hang fire for the moment – we’ve got a couple of repairers from down under who may be able to advise you further.

Tks for that Penguin. Contacted F&P this morning …they want $99 to come out and look at the unit…that covers their labour and parts are a cost on top of that.I said I will bring the unit to you and I will put the replacement part in….its not that hard….no can’t do that. So will wait for advice from your members.
Tks again

Do you have a blue or yellow modules
The yellow modules sometimes fail to fire up if the motor resistance is low should be 13 ohms
Blue have a fuse if the fuse is gone replaceing it will only blow the other module they only go if the module has gone look for the tube leak at the end near the a mosfetts
You cannot buy a new blue module for the 501 they are all rebuilt with 1 year or less G/T yellow modules are a kit pot luck new or rebuilt
Check motor pump and bearings before you spend the big bucks -
