    I have a Zanussi FJ1093 and it’s been having draining problem. If I were to put the drain pipe down, water keeps flowing out and the machine just keeps filling water. If I lift it up (so water stops flowing out), come time to let the water out, the machine does not and it just stops there until I put the drain pipe down again and then it continues to do what it should.

    Can anyone here help me? I want to get an engineer but I thought it would be a good idea for me to understand what could have gone wrong. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Almost certainly a pump motor failure – if it drains by gravity it won’t be blocked.

    If you have not yet sent for an engineer check in repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

    Power off if you are going to investigate further.

    It sounds like a faulty pump . Not easy to get at on a Zanussi . Most likely cause is a small object such as a match or a rubber band jamming the pump impeller . Unless you are qualified/experienced , call an engineer . If you are determined to attempt DIY , be sure to pull the mains electriciy plug out of the wall socket first

    Thanks very much for your replies. I’ve already found an engineer from this forum but because the call-out charge is very dear, I thought I should at least understand what might be wrong.
